World famous Ski Mountaineer Chris Davenport takes the UK by storm

At a recent event organised by Snow+Rock,
The Ski Club of Great Britain and Helly Hansen, world famous Ski Mountaineer Chris Davenport wowed an audience of 700 at the Royal Geographical Society.

The event took place on the 17th of October and was a huge success. People came from all over the country to see Chris Davenport and hear him talk about his journey into ski mountaineering and his famous ‘Skiing the 14er’s’ project which saw Chris climb and ski all 54 mountains over 14,000ft in the state of Colorado.

Chris told the audience about how he set out to complete his astounding achievement within one year, consequently breaking the world record held by Lou Dawson, the only other man who has completed the same goal - taking 13 years.

The event gave everyone who attended a great sense of understanding of what it takes to be a world renowned skier, mountaineer, adventurer and record breaker. Chris also gave everyone an insight into his recent and future projects, including a short video of him and fellow Helly Hansen sponsored skier, Stian Hagen, on their ‘Alps project’, that will feature in the ski movie ‘CLAIM’, out in the UK later this year.

Chris Davenport said about the event "Speaking at the Royal Geographic Society was without a doubt one of the highlights of my professional career.  As an adventurer but also as a history enthusiast for me to speak at a society that over the centuries has hosted so many remarkable explorers was truly inspiring.  I look forward to coming back to the RGS someday with new tales of fantastic adventures."

David Wiley, UK Sales Director at Helly Hansen says,
“We are thrilled to have been able to bring one of our leading sponsored athletes over to the UK to further strengthen the brand’s relationship not just with the public but also the Ski Club of Great Britain and Snow+Rock “.

Caroline Stuart-Taylor, CEO of the Ski Club said of the event:
“It was a resounding success with all 700 hundred of those in attendance captivated by Chris Davenport’s story and how it achieved his 14ser project in record time. We are proud to be involved with such a high profile project, bringing a world class speaker to the UK for both to our members and the wider skiing public.”

'We were truly inspired when Helly Hansen introduced us to Chris' Ski the 14ers project last year, and hoped we could work with him somehow to inspire our customers. We're absolutely thrilled that this event came together, thanks to everyone who helped make it a success' said Kevin Young, Head of Marketing Snow+Rock.
