Rated 5 out of 5 by Hiker97 A Wonderful Jacket
I was very fortunate to buy this jacket at a discount, however I would be happy paying full price for it. The Gore-Tex pro is very effective, I have been kept very dry and very warm, but I have not been made to overheat. The material is very resilient, as I found out when descending Skiddaw, and it can be worn over multiple layers; it has been my fifth layer during many walks since I've purchased it. The pit zips are fantastic for ventilation on ascents and for cooling down slightly on a mountain summit. Overall, the Arc'Teryx Beta AR is an amazing jacket which is incredibly versatile and worth every single penny. However, I would not use it to walk the dog in the New Forest, for example, as it would only make you sweat buckets.

Love this jacket!
Climbed in it & scrambled up Tryfan in Snowdonia in torrential rain and was completely dry from rain & sweat and condensation as it was a good workout, more than i can say for my North Face 'waterproof' overtrousers!
great fit with & without my down jacket underneath.
also great fit when rock climbing as sleeves long enough for when stretching high & very durable with a pack & a rack!
pricy garment but hoping it'll last a long time and therefore worth it, had it one month now, put it through the paces plus great as a daily jacket as smart enough over jeans etc and keeping me dry about town in this British 'summer'.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DannyC An excellent waterproof!
I wear this for hiking and cycling, as well as everyday use. I stay bone dry and unaffected by wind in it. I'm 5 11, weigh 13 stone and the medium is a good fit for me, still enough room for a base layer, or two. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a lip protector on the zip. A simple enough feature which seem to have become standard, so I don't know why they didn't include one. Anyway, it doesn't detract from the excellent quality of this jacket, overall.

Wow what a jacket, the old adage is definitely true, you get what you pay for.
Fantastically waterproof, breathable and looks great. But don't tell the missus the real price as you may be in hot water.
Great bit of kit, but at a huge cost!

I am a big fan of Arc'teryx clothing due to their quality and attention to detail. I already own a number of other items of which have lasted well. I think this jacket is no acception, it fits well and performs well in all situations.

I like to go out walking in the worst weather and wanted a jacket which will keep out the water whatever nature throws at it and this jacket does exactly that. The fit is awesome. The articulated arms mean that when you lift your arms the jacket doesn't ride up and the hood fits perfectly when the draw strings are tightened. I would buy this jacket in boring black if I had to but I also love the colour 10/10!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Timbo2 Highest quality money can buy
Lets start with the disadvantage: The price. However if you are willing to spend this much money you are getting a product that is not going to let you down. Plus a jacket like the B AR is probably going to outlast a middle range jacket 2 or 3 times over therefore strangely making it a better deal.
Perfaormance: Very durable, tough and waterproof. Don't expect it to keep you warm as it is just a shell but with 3 thin layers underneath I was warm enough skiing in temperatures around -10.
Usability: It is an all round jacket, I used it for skiing which was fine, the addition of a snow skirt may be useful but then again keeping things simple is always a good option.
Size: I am 6 ft 1" thin build and went for the medium. There is enough space for underlayers without too much "baggyness"
Misc: Good vents under arm pits, 2 large pockets at the front (not self draining) and a pocket inside the left breast for ski pass etc... Large adjustable helmet compatible hood which was easy to use.
All in all a great product with little bad points. That said the price is going o be what decides it for you are not.
Snow + Rock were very helpful in letting me order into store to try on different sizes and check before I purchased at no added cost. I highly recommend this service.
