Scarpa Men's SL Active one tough boot! I bought these to replace my old faithful Berghaus GR 20 boots. They are a great fit, very comfy and have a well supported ankle and foot bed. I plan to be wearing them on my fossil collecting trips so they will have to survive in some tough conditions...sharp rocks, acidic mud ect. They did need a little bit of breaking in but I never felt that my feet where in any danger of injury. I think they will serve me well! 22 April 2013
a solid last a lifetime boot. I got these about a month ago now and have been slowly breaking them in. (with any strong leather boot you can expect a bit of breaking in) So far they are proving to be a great fitting boot for the guy with wider feet without sacrificing on heel retention. 24 June 2012

Glossary

Sherpa leather:A 2.7 mm to 2.9 mm tanned leather. The extra thickness and durability of this leather is perfectly suited to stronger hill and mountain walking boots, where extra support and resistance to scuffing is important. Sherpa leather is treated with the HS12 tanning process, which is durable and resistant to scuffing and stops the leather from wetting out so easily.
Cocona lining:By using activated carbon made from coconut shells, it utilizes natural technology to provide protection from UV light and odours, while still providing accelerated moisture management and fast drying times.
Vibram? Biometric sole unit:Lightweight yet extremely sturdy sole anatomically designed for increased comfort.
BD Last:A modern last that provides exceptional foot-hold and has enough volume to allow for modern levels of cushioning to be incorporated within the boot for greater instant comfort and all day performance.
Heel Tension System:An innovative system applied to the heel area of the upper that offers great stability and adaptability to the severe stress derived from steep routes.
Ankle Padding System:Made of a special "MEMORY FOAM" padding, this system improves the self-moulding properties of the rear part of the upper. This technical solution is very light and breathable, and keeps its dynamic memory in terms of last and thickness so it recovers its original shape after every use.
Autofit Collar:The ergonomic design and special padding of the collar ensures the maximum adaptability and comfort of the upper, and helps reduce the impact stress on the Achilles and malleous area for great performance and comfort on any terrain.
V-Flex System:The ergonomic design of the upper ankle flex area allows a wider and more natural movement of the foot, so that the upper can adapt itself to the movement of the foot, even when walking on steep routes with heavy packs. The upper, in synergy with the lacing system, wraps the foot in an optimal way, offering the maximum comfort and support.
Speed Lacing System:Integrated with the ergonomic design of the upper, this lacing system allows the optimal adjustment of the internal volumes of the shoe and the perfect wrapping of the foot, in a simple and quick way.
