Mountain Equipment Men's Firefox GTX Active Jacket
High performance, less durable than other options
First of all, I am an outdoor enthusiast I take part in everything from, canoeing and bushcraft survival to mountaineering and rock climbing. I'm a kit fanatic, and I work in an outdoor shop selling different products like this- so I like to think I know what I'm talking about.
Right, on to the jacket
Not as durable as other options
This jacket is a great performer, it is made from one of the most breathable waterproof fabrics on the market. But while the jacket is obviously very high quality. It is not the most durable fabric, I would not recommend wearing this jacket while wearing a heavy pack or for camping etc.
This is a Ferrari, not a Land Rover. If durability is an issue, look at eVent or gore tex pro fabrics. Or if the level of waterproofing isn't quite as important, have a look at fjallraven clothing.
Ideally it is suited for activities where it's not going to be put through much stress, (heavy backpacks or wear from surroundings like you often get when camping in the woods etc) so it's best for things like; skiing, hill running, climbing, mountaineering, cycling and general sports use.
Overall it's a great, premium hardshell, just please be aware of what it is designed for, it has a very long slim fit, a fully adjustable hood, pit zips, 2 large pockets, everything you need.
Always wash in specially designed cleaner, and once every few month of period of intense use it should be reproofed with a premium clothing spray, both are available from either nikwax or granger or mountain warehouse.

Well made, good fit, lightweight multi-activity jacket.
As per review summary. Great jacket but note it's very lightweight so not great for anything that going to cause abrasion or snag it.

Nice jacket - very lightweight
Very lightweight jacket with advanced Gore-Tex material. Quite short - sits just below the waist.

ME Fireforx GTX
Lightweight, great hood, decent length, sleeves seem long - but make perfect sense if you're reaching up for holds. Good breathability. Sheds water well - but then it's newish.
Lack of map pocket a negative & the waterproof zips seem fragile.

Does the job.
I've just got back from a 2 week trip to whistler where it decided to rain for the majority of our time there. The firefox jacket held up really well. I would prefer a moulded zip, I can imagine that if you were in a hurry the zip could prove a bit fiddly, especially if wearing gloves. Otherwise I would highly recommend this jacket.

comfortable, warm, stylish. this jacket has it all
for a light weight, breathable shell, this jacket does a fantastic job at keeping me dry and warm. the windproof fabric manages to cut out the worst of the scottish gusts. The reflective surface inside does a good job at keeping heat in and there are plenty of vents if you get too warm. A brilliant layering jacket That also looks fantastic.

Great Jacket, Great Price
I use mainly for mountain biking which tests the fabric's breathability when climbing and its fab. Fell off the other week and my first thought was "argh my jacket" but it was unscathed and my arm wasn't! packs small and is very lightweight. All Good.

Very pleased with the Firefox jacket, seems well made and does an excellent job at keeping the weather out. Pit-zips are a good addition and allow a bit of extra ventilation when required.
