Dynastar Powertrack 84 with NX 12 Fluid Binding 2015 4.7 5 3 3
Never got the chance to really test them I bought these because I like to dip of the piste most of the time with the kids. Love moguls and soft snow. Problem was everything in St. Anton was freeze-thaw at half-term this year so it was ice, ice and more ice. To get a few thrills I tried heading down some icy, but well groomed, blacks and this flushed out the Powertrack's key weakness - Vibration. The tips are very flexible and loading up the fronts on steep slopes resulted in severe shuddering. I've since bought myself some Volkl 81's and will be taking both sets with me next time. Hopefully I'll find some soft snow conditions and maybe a little powder so that the Powertracks can shine. If you love powering down groomed runs but only occasionally drift off the sides I'd look elsewhere. But if, like me, you like to explore everywhere then I think these are a good choice. Be mindful though, you might need two sets if future conditions are as poor as this year. 04 March 2015
At last - I can turn in soft snow! Great pair of skiis. I can now ski the soft stuff and the blacks were so much easier. I was even asked by colleagues to slow down!! Icy 'Le Face' without stopping just after my 60th birthday. They also work great as carvers on piste. You don't see many people really leaning over and carving and these make it a delight. One minor improvement would be guidance about sharpening. I had them serviced after 5 days (too many stones around) and found that very sharp edges all the way along gave a feel of the tails sticking/catching a little for a while. 02 February 2015
Brilliant all rounder ( not perfect at any one but very good at all) Imagine icy base with 6 inches of new snow already cut by others. Easy transition from solid mogul to piled snow to bare patch to unbroken powder. Quite effortless with instant turn as needed.and later so happy on perfect piste. 01 February 2015
