- The North Face
In 1966 two hiking enthusiasts from San Francisco founded a small mountaineering retail store. In 1968 the store became The North Face and they began designing and manufacturing their own brand of technical apparel and equipment. The North Face jackets and gilets are now iconic pieces of technical clothing, whether they're needed for high-octane adventures or just for wearing around town.
