Luxury Gifts

Looking to go all out this Christmas? We’ve got your back with these epic gear picks for skiers:

Skis

Help the ski-lover in your life take their passion to the next level with their own skis. Say goodbye to waiting to pick up hire equipment at the resort and sub-standard gear that’s been battered by years of previous use. Instead, they’ll have their own super-slick gear ready and raring to go, whenever they get the urge to hit the slopes.

When it comes to buying skis, the only place to start is at your nearest Snow+Rock store, where our experts will make sure you get the best gear, from the most wanted brands. We recommend bringing the intended recipient into store, so we can get to know a bit more about their style and ability. We’ll then make some recommendations, and you can send them off while you choose which pair to gift, so that there’s still an element of surprise come Christmas day.

If they can’t be there to choose, alternatively you can give them a gift voucher instead so they can head into a store after Christmas to get fitted for their new skis or snowboard.

Check out our ski buying guide.

Ski Boots

Another great gift for anyone getting serious about snowsports is a pair of ski boots, because let’s face it, what’s a pair of skis without the right ski boots?

A real investment piece, just like skis, getting the right fit is key, which is why we recommend taking the recipient to a Snow+Rock store for a personalised fitting. We pride ourselves on our superior free fitting service for ultimate performance when you hit the mountains. Not only will we find the best boots to suit their slopestyle, but we can tailor the fit by heat moulding or replacing the linings.

Sure, there’s no surprise element to buying ski boots come Christmas day, but we think they’ll be pretty blown away nonetheless.

We recommend buying ski socks when trying on ski boots for the best experience on the mountain – so you can fill up their stocking too. For more information on finding the right boots, check out our ski boot buying guide.

Safety Equipment

You can’t put a price on safety, and this couldn’t be truer when heading into the backcountry. If you know someone keen to explore the unknown, then invest in some avalanche gear to ensure they’re safe no matter where they explore. We’ve got avalanche rucksacks designed to keep people near the snow's surface, to transceivers that can help locate victims in emergencies.

Clothing Essentials

Our luxury gift list is great if you’re not on a budget. But if you are, there are loads of other essentials you can choose from that will prove just as popular with the ski fanatic in your life:

Ski Jacket

Whether they like to head into the backcountry, carve up groomed pistes or practice their latest tricks in the park, they’ll need a jacket that can keep them performing whatever they put it through and however tough it gets out there. We’ve got everything from fashion-forward jackets that seamlessly transition from piste to après, to looser fitting jackets with built-in ventilation for challenging climbs and vigorous movement when traversing the whole mountain.

Check out our ski jacket buying guide for more inspiration.

Ski Pants

One of the most underrated pieces of gear, ski pants are essential to keeping you warm and dry all day on the slopes. Like with a jacket, it’s vital to pick a style that suits their preferred ski or board style, as well as their personality.

Look out for key features like vents that improve temperature regulation, snow gaiters that help to keep the snow out and pockets to keep essentials close by at all times.

Base Layers

Base layers form the basis of any good layering system, and come into their own in the mountains. The base layer provides vital temperature regulation and wicks away moisture, whatever the conditions.

When picking a base layer, there are two main fabrics to choose from: merino or synthetic. Merino can be more expensive, but as a natural wool fibre, it has anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties, so can be worn repeatedly without needing to be washed.

Synthetic base layers are generally less expensive, with excellent moisture wicking properties and are quick-drying if they get wet, but they don’t tend to be as warm as merino.

Ski Luggage

Get your loved ones to the slopes in style by gifting them some quality travel luggage. Not only will it make their trip less stressful, but their gear will have the best protection on its journey. From specially-shaped carriers designed to carry skis and matching boot bags, to airport-friendly wheeled cases and duffels, there’s plenty of styles to suit the intrepid adventurer in your life.

Stocking Fillers

Finally, if you’re looking for something a bit smaller to fit into a stocking, or even a ski boot bag, then why not check out these:

Gloves

You lose most heat through your extremities, so keeping hands warm is a must. On the slopes, you’ll want to opt for waterproof gloves that offer protection from the elements, whatever the conditions.

Socks

A Christmas classic, a good pair of technical ski socks will be a real hit with anyone about to spend time in the mountains.
