Here at Snow+Rock, our mission is simple: To the best of our abilities, we ensure your safety while out on the slopes and powder. The conditions on the slopes, powder, backcountry, and peaks can change instantly, and you must ensure you're prepared to change with them. Wearing and bringing the correct clothing and gear in adverse conditions is paramount, so prepare with our wide range of safety equipment.

If you’re taking on the backcountry on your snowboard, ensure that you and your party are as safe as possible with our selection of safety equipment specifically designed for backcountry applications. Including such essential safety equipment as probes, transceivers, shovels and - most importantly - airbag-compatible packs that ensure you can confidently tackle the untapped powder.

The most important safety gear includes a helmet, goggles, wrist guards, knee pads, hip pads, and impact shorts. Advanced riders may also add back protectors and padded shorts for extra coverage.

MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is an advanced helmet technology that helps reduce rotational forces on the brain during angled impacts, improving head protection over traditional designs.

Helmets typically use a hardened ABS or polycarbonate shell with an interior EPS foam liner for effective shock absorption. Premium models may feature MIPS layers and antimicrobial linings for added safety and hygiene.

Yes, wrist guards use rigid or semi-flexible splints, usually made from lightweight plastics or composites, to help reduce the risk of wrist fractures and sprains during falls.

Impact shorts and hip pads provide additional protection for your hips, tailbone, and thighs. They use EVA foam, high-density plastic padding, or gel inserts to absorb impacts from hard falls.

Choose goggles with shatterproof polycarbonate lenses, anti-fog treatments, and UV protection. Double-lens designs and good ventilation help prevent fogging, while wide straps and helmet compatibility improve overall performance.

While optional, knee and elbow pads made from flexible EVA or D3O foam offer extra protection without restricting movement, especially for beginners or park riders prone to frequent falls.

Look for EN 1077 (European) or ASTM F2040 (US) certifications. In-mold and ABS shell designs with EPS foam linings are industry standards for durability and impact resistance.

For helmets and pads, sizing charts from each brand are essential. Proper fit ensures pads don’t slip and helmets stay securely on your head. Some gear uses adjustable straps, dial-fit systems, or removable liners for a custom fit.
