Key features include a waist width between 80–105mm, a rockered tip (and sometimes tail) for easier turns and better float in powder, and a cambered section for stability and edge grip on hardpack. Their flex can range from playful and forgiving to stiff and stable, depending on the model. 

All mountain skis are wider than carving skis, offering better performance in mixed and soft snow, but are narrower than powder skis, making them more agile on groomed runs. They provide a balance of stability, versatility, and maneuverability, whereas carving skis excel on groomers and powder skis shine in deep snow. 

There are generally two styles: charging (stiffer, more stable for aggressive skiing and speed) and playful (softer, more forgiving for dynamic turns and freestyle elements). The right type depends on your skiing style, preferred terrain, and skill level.
