READ: SKI PANT BUYING GUIDE / SKI JACKET BUYING GUIDE

Our ski pants and salopettes are built to keep you warm and dry through long days on the mountain, with tough, waterproof fabrics that stand up to wet chairlifts, deep snow, and sharp ski edges.

Choose insulated pants for built-in warmth on cold days, shell pants if you prefer to layer, or stretchy softshells for extra freedom of movement. Salopettes add a high bib and braces to keep snow out and stay in place, while ski pants sit at the waist for a lighter, less bulky feel.

Look for taped seams, snow gaiters, reinforced cuffs, and thigh vents, then pick your fit from slim, straight, or relaxed cuts in short, regular, and long leg lengths.

Ski pants sit at the waist like normal trousers and feel less bulky. Salopettes come higher up your chest with braces, so they keep more snow out and stay in place when you fall. Both are equally warm, so it comes down to preference.

A thermal base layer is all you need on most days, with a thicker one for very cold weather. Avoid jeans, leggings made from cotton or anything that holds moisture, as it will leave you cold and damp.

They should cover the top of your ski boots when you're standing, with the inner snow gaiters fitting over the boot to keep snow out. Try them on with your boots if you can, and choose short or long leg lengths if you need them.

You can at a push, but they aren't ideal. Ski pants are warmer, tougher and come with features like snow gaiters and reinforced cuffs, which stop your ski edges cutting through the fabric.

Use a technical cleaner rather than normal detergent or fabric softener, as these can damage the waterproof coating. Reproof them every so often to keep water beading off the fabric.
