GB SNOWSPORT'S BEST PODCASTS TO TAKE YOU BACK TO THE MOUNTAINS
It’s no secret there’s a podcast about practically everything nowadays, and when we can’t go to the mountains, we can at least listen to some of the best names in the business talking about them. We hit up our friends at GB Snowsport to find out what the athletes are listening to when they’re not busy winning medals – and they didn’t disappoint. Always wanted to know what’s happening in an athlete’s head? Now’s your chance.
The High Performance Podcast
“Honest insight on the approach and mindsets of some of sport’s most successful athletes. The Johnny Wilkinson and Steven Gerrard episodes are particularly brilliant - really inspiring and helped me to look at my sport from multiple angles.”
Scott Meenagh – GB Snowsport Para Nordic Athlete
No Right Path
“I actually don’t listen to any sport podcasts. I have, however, started listening to one called "No Right Path" which has been really cool lately. It’s basically about how when you get to around 23 or so, there is "no right path" to choose and it highlights the diversity of what people get up to after uni, or after school, as it is such a mental time. There has been at least one athlete on there (soon to be two) if that counts!”
Charlie Guest – GB Snowsport Alpine Athlete
The Ski Racing Podcast
Presented by former GB Snowsport Alpine and Ski Cross Athlete Ed Drake, this classic podcast follows the FIS Alpine World Cup circuit making predictions and discussing results, with lots of guest stars.
Big Picture Skiing
“An interesting one for hardcore recreational skiers.”
Charlie Raposo – GB Snowsport Alpine Athlete
The Bomb Hole
“This one is pretty good, hosted by Chris Grenier (pro snowboarder) and E-Stone (snowboard photographer). It’s had some really interesting guests from well-known contests, from riders like Danny Davis and Torstein Horgmo to some more behind the scenes contributors like T-Bird (Ex snowboarder Mag editor and commentator) and Justin Meyer (video grass Filmer). Pretty funny and gives a good insight into the guests’ lives outside snowboarding.”
Matt McCormick, GB Snowsport Freestyle Snowboard Athlete
The Powell Movement Action Sports
“Mike Powell chats to iconic action sports stars, professional athletes as well different characters who have long worked for iconic brands in the action sports industry. Their stories always make for interesting listening.”
Amelia Steele – GB Snowsport Communications
Long Underwear
“From the iconic Warren Miller Entertainment and presented by professional skier Amie Engerbretson, this one is an awesome way to get to know more about snowsports professionals ‘beneath the layers’/behind their professional athlete persona. Guests aren’t allowed to mention ‘the S word’ (skiing/snowboarding) so you learn a lot about all the other interesting stuff they get up to and what makes them tick – I recently really enjoyed the episode with Michelle Parker.”
