READ: WATERPROOF JACKETS BUYING GUIDE / WATERPROOF RATINGS

Make sure you stay warm and dry this autumn and winter with our range of new-season men's waterproof jackets. Our range is hand-selected by our expert staff to ensure that you never have to compromise your plans in the outdoors because of bad British weather. Whether you’re carving the piste, climbing to the summit, hiking the trail, or tackling the weekday city commute, keep your core temperature regulated, your body dry, and your pursuits comfortable with our men's jackets crafted from premium, durable materials and fabrics.

Innovated for weatherproof excursions, breathability, comfort, and flexibility, all from top brands: including Arc’teryxMontanePatagonia, and The North Face. At the heart of these jackets lies advanced waterproof-breathable membrane technology, ensuring protection from rain while allowing perspiration to escape. Many feature a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating, causing water to bead up and roll off the surface, maintaining breathability even in challenging conditions.

From versatile 3-layer constructions ideal for intense mountain activities to lighter 2.5-layer designs perfect for trail running or as emergency layers, our collection caters to all outdoor pursuits. Look for features like wire-brimmed hoods for optimal visibility, high collars with chin guards for face protection, and water-resistant zips with storm flaps for added weather defence.

These jackets don't just keep you dry; they're engineered to maintain warmth and comfort in varying conditions. With adjustable cuffs, hems, and hoods, you can customise your fit for maximum protection against the elements!

A truly waterproof jacket uses multi-layered fabrics with a waterproof membrane, fully taped seams, and water-resistant zippers to block out rain and snow. Look for a Hydrostatic Head (HH) rating of at least 5,000mm for light showers, 10,000mm for heavy rain, and 20,000mm+ for extreme weather. Higher ratings mean better water resistance.

Consider the weather and your activities. For everyday use or light rain, a 5,000–10,000mm rating is sufficient. For hiking, skiing, or harsh conditions, choose 15,000–20,000mm+ with breathability features like underarm vents and adjustable hoods. Key features include taped seams, adjustable cuffs, and multiple secure pockets.

  • 2-layer: Basic waterproofing, suitable for light use.
  • 2.5-layer: Adds a protective coating for improved breathability and lighter weight.
  • 3-layer: Combines a durable outer, waterproof membrane, and inner liner for maximum protection, durability, and breathability, ideal for intense activities and extreme weather.

A waterproof jacket should fit comfortably over mid-layers, allowing freedom of movement without being too loose. Adjustable hoods, cuffs, and hems help seal out the elements, while articulated sleeves and longer backs improve coverage and mobility.

Wash your jacket with a gentle, technical detergent and avoid fabric softeners, which can damage the waterproof membrane. Dry on low heat or air dry to reactivate the water-repellent finish. Reproof your jacket when water stops beading on the surface to maintain its performance.

Yes, most modern waterproof jackets balance water resistance with breathability, allowing sweat to escape while keeping rain out. Look for breathability ratings alongside waterproof ratings, and features like ventilation zips to enhance comfort during active use.
