1. Analyse your feet using 3D technology

Your boot fit techician will assess your feet to create a 3D foot profile and identify the most suitable boots for you. We'll ask about your needs, and look at the mobility and flexibility in your foot, ankle and calf by assessing these three aspects:

  • Width: looking at how wide your foot spreads across the forefoot when standing
  • Volume: the height of the instep and the arch of your foot
  • Heel + Achilles: the width of the heel, the Achilles and the width of your ankle bone

We want to learn about any injuries that could effect you on the slopes, before we assess your gait.

Your gait is how your foot moves, or pronates: all feet supinate (roll outwards) or overpronate (roll inwards) to some extent to absorb shock, but keeping your feet as neutral as possible will help with balance and motion control and help to reduce your risk of injury.

2. Find the right ski boots + socks for you

Your technician will help you choose the right technical socks for ultimate comfort and temperature control, and find you ski boots to try that suit your anatomical foot shape, ability and aims.

3. Find the right insole to elevate performance

Once you’ve found the right ski boot, your technician will advise on the right insole or footbed for ultimate comfort and performance.

Please note: That any recommended insoles or footbeds are not part of the free fitting service and will need to be purchased separately.

4. Fabricate your unique insoles for optimum comfort

If custom insole are right for you, we make them using the process below to neutralise your posture and align your lower limbs. We add a stabilising block or tabs for more stability.

5. Ensure everything feels just right

We'll make the final adjustments to your boots to get rid of any spots of discomfort, by stretching the shell and adding or removing foam to the liner.

6. Try out your new boots

Your boots will take a few days to get to their optimal comfort level. If you experience any issues within 14 days of skiing, bring them back to your nearest Snow+Rock store with boot fitting services and we'll re-adjust free of charge under our Ski Boot Comfort Guarantee.

Making Your Custom Footbeds

We create custom footbeds using the SIDAS Custom Moulding System.

1. Stand on two silicon pillows to take an imprint of your foot.

2. The pre-heated footbeds will be put into the moulds ready to shape to your feet.

3. Once cooled, a stabiliser will be added to make sure your foot stays in the right position.

4. The footbed is now shaped to fit your ski boots.

2. Consider different brands to match the performance and stiffness of your riding style

Your technician will help you choose depending on your experience level and the terrain you'd like to tackle. If you're someone who enjoys regular park laps, you're looking for a boot that can bend with your movement. If you're riding all mountain, find a boot that is stiff enough to react at high speeds. We'll help you find a boot that suit your anatomical foot shape, ability and aims.
