For the past 40 years, BLACKYAK has developed in mountaineering, outdoor apparel and gear out of South Korea. From the first brand store in 1973, they have been striving to become one of the leading companies in the outdoor industry. They are often recognized by professional mountaineers as high quality technical gear for Himalaya expeditions as well as outdoor activites of all kind including ski touring, hiking and trekking.

BLACKYAK collaborates with the best product developers, designers and athletes from Europe, to create unique collections believing in product innovation, newly developed materials, individual designs and technological progress. Hence the company’s motto: development never stops!

Their prototypes are exposed to the most extreme situations by our BLACKYAK athletes during training and on expeditions. Week-long treks, waiting at base camp, the ascent of 8,000-metre-high peaks, climbing ice walls: people and materials have to work together optimally. The production of BLACKYAK collections starts only when each detail has been perfected, all of the athlete’s requests have been considered and new materials have proved their worth.

In addition, BLACKYAK has enjoyed the perfect start to its very first two global collections on the European and North-American market. The jury at the ISPO AWARDs honoured BLACKYAK with in total sixteen awards for its products – with 10 of these being gold! A unique record in the history of the ISPO AWARD.
