LATE-SEASON FESTIVALS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

The only thing better than tearing up the slush in the late-season sun? Doing so at an epic week-long party on a world-famous mountain. We’ve rounded up our top picks of the late-season snow festivals happening across Europe in 2019 – and exactly why you need to book your tickets ASAP.

Snowboxx Avoriaz, France: 23 Mar 2019 – 30 Mar 2019

In the shadow of legendary Mont Blanc, the famous resort of Avoriaz is transformed into a raver’s paradise for one week only. Snowboxx has sold out every year since its first in 2013 thanks to incredible line-ups, wild activities (think custom-built snowball fight arena), and of course, the opportunity to tear up the slopes across the Portes du Soleil ski area. This year’s line-up features Craig David’s TS5, Jax Jones and DJ set from Rudimental.

Snowbombing Mayrhofen, Austria: 8-13 April 2019

Now in its 20th year, the mountaintop homage to pop music that is Snowbombing remains “the greatest show on snow”. Forest raves and igloo parties, Bavarian bier garden and Hans the world-famous butcher – it’s all at Snowbombing. Don’t miss the opportunity to chill out at one of Mayrhofen’s many luxurious spas either, offering panoramic views of the Austrian mountains. This year, Stormzy brings his #MERKY takeover to the ‘hof, and DJing legend Fatboy Slim co-headlines.

Chamonix Unlimited Festival, France: 2-7 April 2019

Chamonix Unlimited is more than a music festival: it’s a celebration of cultures, with 60 artists performing in two countries over six days of parties. Infused with the spirit of freeski brand Black Crows, Unlimited is the ultimate skier’s/boarder’s pilgrimage to the centre of the freeride universe: the slopes of the first ever Winter Olympics.

Caprices Crans-Montana, Switzerland: 11-14 April 2019

The iconic house and techno festival brings the famous MDRNTY clubbing experience to the Swiss mountains. The main stage, set in a glasshouse, hosts returning giants Ricardo Villalobos and Sven Väth in 2019 for another unforgettable year. The Moon Stage promises an experience of light, sound and an electric vibe like nothing you’ve ever seen, while a brand new third stage will showcase local Swiss talent all weekend and kick off with an exclusive opening party.

Sun and Snow Sierra Nevada, Spain: 18-20 April

This party in the southern Spanish slopes is back for its second year. Enjoy shredding in the Sierra Nevada National Park’s late-season sun to an epic soundtrack of electronic and house, brought to you by live DJs including Christian Löffler and Jennifer Cardini. There’s something for everyone off-stage, too: early-morning trekking expeditions, ski biking and paragliding are all on offer, as well as top-quality runs and an international food offering available every single day.
