Arc'teryx Men's Atom LT Hoody
Just what I was looking for
I was going walking in the Scottish mountains this summer. i wanted something really light that I could pack into my rucksack and put on whilst on top of some of the higher mountains in the Cairngorms, where it is ten or more degrees colder than in the valleys, not including the wind factor. This lightweight artificial fibre jacket was perfect, and kept me nice and warm on cairn gorm. It is very light in weight, i stuffed it into the hood when it was not in use, although a stow pouch would have been even better. Looks smart too...You will also need wet weather overgear though!

Classic Warm Layer Jacket
The Atom LT is a technical warm layer jacket which has core loft front and rear and fleece at the sides to assist in regulating body heat. Worn under a hard shell jacket the fleece works well with any "pit zip" feature to wick away excess heat if using this combination in cold wet weather. The features work if using the Atom on its own too. The jacket is immensely handy for stand alone use in cold dry climates. Perfect for everything from Skiing to Apres Ski wear to the Bar. It is this ability to offer warmth without preventing "activity" that makes this jacket a "classic". It is the jacket you would first pack if going on a round the world trip. It would cover all your bases the best.
The hood can be cinched down in volume which makes the jacket work well with or without a helmet. No need to turn your head "into the hood" - so activity use is much safer. Great for cycling or climbing and simple walking around town. The pockets are fleece lined so "static" use as a warm layer pulled out the rucksack for a "summit" sandwich and brew enable the pockets to work as great "hand-warmers". This feature is appreciated though all the time. Comes in just as handy at Bus Stops too.
The jacket is so "light" it packs very well. It is an ideal travel garment. The only thing missing is a compression stuff sack. You can pack it small by using one of the sleeves as an improvised stuff sack but it will go a lot smaller with a proper sack with compression straps. This is the only thing I think Arcteryx should supply for the price which they do not. You could keep it in the wallet pocket for climbing use and leave it out if wearing around town.

Fantastic lightweight warm jacket
I purchased this jacket because I wanted a lightweight, packable thermal layer that I could wear as an all rounder. I had considered a Rab jacket and as I'm not a fan of the larger ones that make you look like Michelin Man I originally went for the Rab Microlight. I was disappointed however with its loose fitting, flimsy cuffs. I returned it to snow and rock and was impressed with the Arteryx. The staff were great with the return and I am very happy with the Atom. The cuffs are strong and comfortable which keeps in warmth and whilst you can't really pack it away into a pocket (perhaps you might with a bit of force) I always pack things into dry bags anyway. This fits perfectly into a small dry bag and will pack down incredibly small. I would definitely look at Arcteryx products in the future based on this jacket alone.

top jacket that does the lot!
Super piece of kit that ticks all the boxes. Lightweight - relatively warm using it as a mid/base layer piece of kit. I put it on and it stays on.
Quality is good - as expected from Arcteryx.
My new go to piece of kit!

Warm and lightweight
This is my second Arcteryx jacket, the first being a wind prof jacket. I bought this as a compromise between a warm, lightweight modern down jacket but without the bulk of my3/4 season NOrrona fleece with a level of wind proof built in.
It does the lot, slight wind proof I tried by the sea with a 25mph wind and stood up pretty well on a cold and frosty day. When you warm it up, it retains that heat and fels like you aren't wearing anything. I love the hood especially how it sits well around the chin is snug alongside of the head and neck with no draughty areas that allow the heat to escape.
Brilliant jacket, I wish I had tried the synthetic downs earlier.
