Daypacks from Snow+Rock give you a lightweight way to carry gear for short trips.  A daypack is a small backpack built for single-day use rather than multi-day expeditions, sized to sit somewhere between a small day-hiking pack and a full backpacking rucksack. Use one for a morning hike, a daily commute to work, or a weekend exploring a new city.

Smaller daypacks in the range suit fast hikes and trail days when you only need water, snacks and a light layer. Larger daypacks add room for extra layers, food and a first aid kit on longer walks, along with a ventilated back panel that keeps air moving on warm climbs.

A daypack for work differs from a hiking daypack. A daily daypack for the office often needs a padded laptop sleeve and a slim shape for crowded trains or buses. A hiking daypack needs hydration compatibility, hip support and space for wet weather gear. Our range comes from established outdoor brands, chosen for years of testing in UK hills and beyond.

Browse our range of daypacks and find the right size for your next outing.

A daypack is a small, lightweight backpack built to carry gear for a single day out. Most daypacks hold between 10 and 30 litres, enough space for water, food, a spare layer and small essentials. People use daypacks for hiking, commuting, city breaks and daily carry.

A daypack is a smaller, lighter type of backpack sized for single-day trips. A full backpack, such as a hiking or backpacking pack, usually holds 30 litres or more and carries gear for multi-day trips or expeditions. Daypacks skip the heavier frame and extra straps that larger backpacks need for carrying weight over several days.

The right daypack size depends on how you plan to use it. A 10 to 15 litre daypack suits fast hikes, running or a light daily commute. An 18 to 22 litre daypack gives room for extra layers, food and a first aid kit on longer walks or day hikes in changing weather.

Think about your main activity before choosing a daypack. Hiking daypacks often include a hydration reservoir sleeve and water bottle pockets for use on the trail. A daypack for work usually adds a padded laptop sleeve and a slim shape that fits neatly on public transport.

Pack heavier items close to your back and near the middle of the daypack to keep the load stable. Keep items you need quickly, such as a map, snacks or a rain jacket, in the top pocket or side pockets. Pack a water bottle or hydration reservoir last so it stays easy to reach.

Look for padded, adjustable shoulder straps and a ventilated back panel that keeps you cool on the move. Hydration compatibility, multiple pockets and water-resistant fabric all add to how well a daypack performs. Some hiking daypacks add ice axe loops or trekking pole attachments for rougher terrain.
