The North Face Women's Imbabura Hoodie
Well fitted stylish mid weight down jacket
I got this jacket to wear as an outer layer on cool/cold dry days, and to wear with a shell on very cold or wet days.
I've taken this on a couple of trips now, and have used it in both the ways I'd intended, with great success.
The initial thoughts on wearing it are that it is remarkably light, and that it is a good length, particularly at the back.
The hood is a good snug fit, and comfortable. Two outside zipped pockets plus two unzipped internal pockets provide pretty good and ample storage, but the coat has quite a fitted look and feel, so you may decide not to stuff the pockets and carry a bag or use other pockets for really bulky items.
The jacket has 700 fill down, but not a huge amount of it, so this isn't the jacket for you in you are looking for a high alpine super warm layer, but for cool temperatures it is a great choice, either on its own or with a shell.
My problem now is that I get too warm when I keep wearing it indoors! :)

Warm, light, cute, using it a lot.
So far I am really liking this jacket and wearing it a lot. It is warm and packs down very small. I wasn't convinced at first about the hood, I thought it superfluous, but have actually used it a lot instead of a hat. In fact so warm that in this mild winter I have thought a couple of times that pit zips would be nice, but then that would add to the weight and bulk of course.
I have a size L, I normally wear a size 12/14. Plenty of space for under layers but still fits under my gore tex outer shell for a full warm & waterproof set up, which is probably what I will do for skiing.
I haven't yet tested it for its proper use- hiking/climbing/mountains etc, so that would test its true colours. The zip has gotten caught once or twice starting to pull it up, which never happens on my Arcteryx sealed-zipped shell. Fiddling with zips while gloved and in biting wind will be the true test.
If I was to nit pick, it could dip down a little lower on the back.
I picked this one over other brands/model with very similar spec simply because it looks cute, which seems like a silly reason, but it does mean I wear it a lot more and get more value for money- just popping out around town / cycling to work / casual walk; whereas something more utilitarian I might just use for hill walking or climbing.

The perfect purchase for backpacking!
Three weeks backpacking in Vietnam required careful packing for hot and cold temperatures. I bought this coat because it folds up very small in to the pocket. This coat was a real lifesaver for 2 days trekking in the mountains of Sapa. My friend was really cold whereas I was nice and snug in my North Face coat! A great purchase for someone who wants to be warm but who also needs to pack light!!
