This is the one compass you want
This compass is the only compass you need. It has all the different map reading scales. Do not be tempted to buy a smaller compasses as you will find it difficult to use on a map for taking measurements and bearings.
It was recommended to me by a climbing centre for a winter navigation course I used it on (map reading and navigating in the snow in the mountains with zero visibility). The magnifying lens was really useful as it meant I did not have to keep putting on my glasses in order to evaluate all the map detail. The lanyard is great for attaching the compass to your jacket or rucksack for easy and secure access.

don't waste your money
We wanted a tool like this to easily allow us to read coordinates off an OS map, and to mark way points on the map.
We found the scaling wasn't right for the map - which, to be fair, was probably my own fault, since we bought this before we bought the maps...but we did buy standard OS maps!. Frankly, we never used the thing.
