Scarpa Men's Mustang GTX
I bought these boots three weeks prior to climbing Kilimanjaro due to a problem with previous boots intended to climb in. These boots served me so well when friends boots took in massive amounts of water my socks were mearly damp!

If Carlsberg made boots .....
Being very fussy when buying footwear I had tried on many different boots before selecting these Scarpa Mustangs. I was basically looking for a light weight 3-season boot that would pretty much handle everything apart from serious winter conditions.
I was sceptical because in the past I have found Scarpa to be fairly narrow fit and I have a fairly wide foot. They must have revised their fit because for me the fit is perfect in my normal size 9.5 with enough room for some moderately thick socks underneath. Previously, I have usually opted heavyweight boots, with lightweight boots being reserved for the summer months. My idea this time was to replace all my existing boots and keep only a B2 pair for winter mountaineering.
After a few months of varied use I can say they are a superb all round pair of boots. Comfortable straight out of the box, I wore them for a couple of days around the house etc. just to test them out then on a 2 weeks trip Norway where they were my only footwear.During this trip I had chance to test the waterproofing with some hiking in very wet conditions, sometimes in ankle deep in mud. They clean up surprisingly well and dry quickly. The sole has a deep tread pattern which works well in mud and the rubber sticks well to wet rock.
They also look ok with a pair of jeans and didn't attract too much attention at airport security. The lacing system also has locking cleats halfway down which stay put really well so you can adjust the lower lacing to suit, then when you take your boots off and on, you only have to lace the top part and off you go.
If you are looking for a good all round pair of lightweight boots, you can't go far wrong. Highly recommended.

A lightweight boot. comfortable from day one but, robust enough for extended crampon use.
Most of the year I wear trail shoes or sandals. I've struggled to find relatively lightweight and comfortable boots that can be used in full winter conditions. I took a gamble on these boots and took them on a trekking trip to Southern Turkey in April 2014. Below the snow line they had to cope with jagged limestone and warm temperatures. Once in the high mountains I used them with crampons for a full day ascent of a 3,000m peak. I'm delighted so far because they have proved safe, comfortable and not too warm (often a problem with waterproof lined footwear). I can't refer to durability yet but, the soles have withstood the rough ground very well with hardly any sign of wear. Great boots.

Comfortable fit, sturdy footbed.
Great customer services from scarpa and then snow and rock. Boots were changed without question to new updated product. They are sturdy and tough while out on trails but very comfortable for full day walks. Lace system is easy and stays in place while lacing up.
