Stiff sole with good foot protection I bought these (last minute - as a rule, not good practice!) for hiking the GR20 in Corsica. They generally performed well - the GR20 North section terrain is rough / sharp granite which is hard on your footwear... Positives: + stiff sole protects from sharp surface underfoot + the lace system has "locking hooks" half way up making them adjustable + waterproof (but beware the tongue is not fully integral) + the rubber used for the Vibram sole is tough but sticky on granite, very secure Negatives: - I suffered a small amount of rubbing on both heels (resulting in blisters by day 8), but this may be down to personal fit - the toebox rand did not wear well - some detatchment (I met and talked with others on the route and their boots withstood the terrain) I also bought custom footbeds - I generally do this with high-end footwear (e.g. also for ski boots), so can not comment on the standard footbeds. 19 October 2012

Nubuck Leather:	Classy and robust full-grain leather with slight sanding to create the characteristic velvet appearance. Depending on the required finish, Nubuck can be waxed, brushed or left untreated.
