It was all worth it It was a gloomy Friday morning. Good Friday they say, but it did not feel so good when the miserable sticky rain is all over you, and you start doubting if it was really a good idea to be in the centre of Birmingham at 9am in the morning on the 3rd of April 2015. The sole purpose of being there for my husband and I was to visit the Snow+Rock. I was not lucky with trainersâ purchase recently. The Adidas pair I had was uncomfortable, and my good intention to walk more and get a bit fitter did not work as I ended up with painful feet after a 30 minutes walk. My husbandâs sister, have been to Birmingham Snow+Rock a week before. She was very impressed, which prompted me to go there too. So there we were, hoping to walk into the shop at 9am, but, to much disappointment, the doors were closed. No âEaster hoursâ message on the door, no updates on the web site, no messages on the Customer Service phone line. But we were there already, paid for 3 hours parking and drunk the obligatory Costa coffee with an overpriced croissant. Decision been made to wait till 10am. And so we did. And it was not in vain! At 10 oâclock exactly the doors were open, and we marched to the women shoe section, moaning about luck of communication on the opening hours. The mood changed, when the Zack salesman come. I must say, his patience deserves praise. He brought nearly 10 boxes of walking shoes in different sizes, colours and styles, explaining their features to me in very friendly and calm manner, giving me time to try them on, think and try again. My husband was rolling his eyes and smiling uncomfortably, but Zack just brought another pair I asked for, making sure I am completely happy. A little disappointment â they could not find a shoe horn. I mean, itâs a footwear shop. There must be a shoe horn somewhere⦠You know, to try the walking shoes on. Never mind, I am sure, it was there⦠Hidden. So about 40 minutes later the decision was made. I have become a proud owner of Salomon walking shoes in exchange of a considerable amount of Her Majestyâs portraits. Most expensive pair of shoes I own so far. And they donât even have high heels! But I must say, the shoes are great: comfortable and light. Completely different feeling while walking, I am not in pain anymore, but just enjoy my walks. Thank you to Zack for being patient with me and for helping me to choose the right model and the right size. And I am glad we managed to wait that extra hour, it was worthwhile. 27 April 2015
great all rounder when crosstraining on different grounds its difficult to find a tainer with grip strong toe guard and comfort. most while giving comfortable wear are just not durable enough around the toe area thus rip easily so even though this trainer is heavier it's sturdier its better on rougher outdoor runs. overall good for the great outdoors.only negative after my last were Solomon speedcross I did have to get used to the heavier weight. 30 March 2015
Bright and easy-to-wear shoe Easy to put on and off, gave good support and an excellent colour. Only slight niggle is that the area under the tongue is a bit on the tight side (compared to other walking shoes or trainers) when the laces are pulled tight, after wearing for a while. They feel like they'll last well, and snow dries off them quickly - not tested in other conditions. 23 February 2015
Excellent Shoe at Competitive Price This will be my third pair of Salomon. Bought these from the Birmingham store my go to store now that Sheffield is no more and they kindly price matched them to the internet so great with the discounted price! These are great for off road running plenty off grip and durability but I'm saving these for my next ski trip. Excellent about town shoe with or without snow in the village I've had many years out of the old ones but have downgraded for gardening duty. 26 September 2014
Great shoe I bought these before completing the Yorkshire 3peak challenge, as the weather was warm I didn't want to wear my walking boots due to my feet getting hot and rubbing. These provided comfort for the full 12 hours of walking, they are breathable so I didn't have any over heating problems. The sole was sturdy enough to provide support under foot, and the laces tuck neatly away so they can not come undone and trip you up. I did a little bit of scrambling in them and found they were perfect for that as they are not as a restrictive as walking boots. They are a great compromise between walking boots and trail running shoe, and would recommend them for anyone planning on hiking if the underfoot conditions are not too wet. 15 July 2014
