Salomon Women's X Ultra Mid GTX
Lightweight with great features
It is lightweight and provides the right amount of support for your ankle. It has a good grip as well and I felt stable when walking on slippery rocks on the coast.

Would really recommend these Boots, I am walking up Kilimanjaro in Feb and have only practiced in these so far but no blisters and very comfy.
Also the help from people in store was brilliant couldn't of asked for better customer service.

Great walking boots for a beginner walker with a problem knee
Knowing nothing about walking boots these were a great recommendation (by Hubert in Covent Garden S&R Store), I'd never owned a pair before and having an ongoing knee complaint meant I had to consider carefully what would suit me. I "road" tested them on a trip to Jordan. with 'breaking in' allowance they took me through the desert, up dunes, round rock faces and saw me through a 20km wander around Petra. No rubbing, no overheating, no aching knees. I think that's pretty much a perfect record for a starter walker in new boots and for a brilliantly comfortable, light-weight boot that was subtle in design and I'd happily wear daily. Off to Snowdonia in them next!

Comfortable, light weight and water proof, with excellent grip.
Durable product. Doesn't give you blisters during your first hike. Love the light weight. Easy pull lace.

Awesome! Best boots I have ever had.
These boots are awesome. For a variety of reasons I found myself in a position where I had to find a great pair of boots 3 days before the start of a 5 day, 100mile walk along the Pennine Way. I spent about an hour in the Covent Garden store and had a lot of help from a staff member who was clearly familiar with the type of boot I needed and the nature of the Pennine Way (very hilly, very boggy and very wet!). We narrowed it down to 2 different Salomon models but I chose these as they were comfortable, light but felt they gave enough ankle support, and waterproof. I was, understandably, a little nervous as it is is certainly not ideal to embark on a long walk never having worn the boots! They performed brilliantly. I did not get a single blister, they were comfortable even after 20 miles a day, they were fab bog hopping, scrambling up Pen-y-Gent, hiking through meadows and over limestone rocks, and I had dry feet throughout. I am now looking forward to taking them on the Tour du Mont Blanc!

Rugged, flexible and waterproof. Great for Irish hills!
I have taken my Salomon Ultra Mid's on a few excursions through the Irish hills and they have performed very well. They are super grippy on mud and wet rocks. I stood all day in the rain marshaling a mountain bike race and to my delight my feet were cosy and dry at the end of the day. I chose these because I wanted a rugged but flexible walking shoe and with the goretex water proofing, they are perfect for the Irish climate. In a warmer/dryer climate, they might be a bit too warm.
I am usually a size 7/7.5 and I bought a 7.5. These fit my kinda square feet snugly in width with plenty of room in the toes. I find they fit me best with a thick pair of wool socks but since the first time I put them on they have been very comfortable; no breaking in was necessary. I already had a pair of Salomons in a 7.5 so the sizing on these were the same but I would recommend trying them on as other models seem to have a different fit. My only qualm is that a single knot in the laces comes undone but a double knot does the trick.

A good boot
Thoroughly tested in the snow on a recent skiing trip. Kept feet completely dry, whilst also being lightweight and comfortable.
