Style and function perfectly combined.
I've used Salomon shoes for years now for trail running and racing and I think they are the best on the market. I bought these XR Crossmax specifically to use for a week of mountian running in Austria on mixed trails and they performed perfectly, I even used them on glacier snow and to summit the Kitzsteinhorn mountain. The grip is excellent, particularly on rock and dirt trails. They are comfortable to wear for all day running, they dry quickly (the sole can be removed) and the Salomon quick lock lacing system tightens the shoe evenly across the top of the foot and simply does not come undone no matter the terrain. And very importantly they look super stylish and come in a range of colours! It speaks volumes that at races in Europe ALL the top runners wear Salomons as their shoe of choice. Highly recommended.

The XR is for higher mileage runners who transition between trail and pavement and want a neutral shoe. Perfect fit comes from Salomon's Sensiflex, soft reinforcement on the ball of the foot, and the Sensifit system to wrap around the upper instep precisely. An Oversized Tendon midsole component provides a smooth cushioned ride with energy return for long runs. And a new chevron pattern Contagrip outsole ensures precise grip on virtually any surface. The neutral version has a 3 piece midsole with a symmetrical shape, and fully welded sensifit upper.
