Rated 5 out of 5 by Best set of Skis I have ever been on!! The Salomon BBR 8.9s are quite simply the best set of skis I have ever been on. I was a little dubious about all the hype these skis had received, however, they were absolutely terrific. I used them last week and found them utterly phenomenal. The V shape gives a lovely pin-tail and they are thin under foot, this twinned with the sharp edges enables you to carve out brilliant fast sweeping turns on the piste. Additionally, the great big "surf board" tips really do help in the powder. These skis almost eliminate the need to lean back into your boots and just they just float leaving you to concentrate on avoiding those trees! Excellent pair of skis, worth every penny! 25 February 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fun fun fun - loved them I've wanted to handle off-piste powder better for years; I hired these skis last year to try them out and loved them so much I've bought a pair this year (after trying out alternatives). They're really good: stable and very fast, grip brilliantly on ice, with easy tight carving on piste; but they're also wonderfully light and manoevrable in powder and they have the stiffness to cut through crud too. Now I'm hacking it! I am thrilled with them. (My other pair are pure piste specials - v stiff Volkl 6* Supersport.) The 8.9s are not designed to be mainly powder skis - try the 10.0s for that; these are 50/50 piste/powder and fantastic all-rounders. The 8.9s are pure fun and I love them. #SkiFastAllDay 19 February 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not for me While this ski performs very well on smooth piste (due to the turning radius), skied up powder and heavy snow (due to the wide tip) - I was left feeling disappointed. I wanted a ski that was more stable at speed, had better edge grip on ice and wasn't so difficult to navigate the super wide tips through moguls. In powder, I wanted a ski that gave me more of a float and sinking experience and not the uniform "tips up, ankles down" experience that these delivered. I also found on long altitude losing traverses that the extreme sidecut pulled on my legs more than I have had with other skis and consequently made my legs very tired. I will use them again in the spring when the off piste is slushy. 13 January 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The new all mountain king The best of both worlds - big heads for keeping afloat in deep pow and a good sidecut for carving on corduroy - pretty close to the perfect all mountain ski. They look pretty sexy an all. 03 January 2013
