Arc'teryx Men's Perimeter Pant
Your new go-to trousers
I bought these trousers last year for alpine hiking, and walking/scrambling in the UK. A year on, they've done all that and more and are still in great condition. Possibly the best piece of outdoors gear I've owned. Somehow all of the following:
Strong. Will stand the vast majority of everyday abuse. Inadvertently shoved the hem into a moving bike chain and got away with it. No thorn, abrasion, or pocketed key has yet made it through the fabric (they've had lots of opportunities).
Flexible. Very comfortable. Enough stretch at the crotch and knee for the wildest of walking lunges. Do your yoga in them.
Quick to dry. UK weather, essential.
Breathable, lightweight. I wore mine every day for a couple of months in India, in the heat of June and July. They were cool enough, clean enough and generally hygienic enough to get away with doing so - given a less-than-frequent laundry regime. All other clothing items felt (& smelt) far inferior by comparison.
Great fit. They're outdoors trousers but they don't shout about it. Wear into town.
What else to say? Excellent pockets; strong, secure, good zip on the right thigh. I'd say a really reasonable price, given the excellence. I remember Arc'teryx not having many length options - the one downfall. I'm 6"3 and fine, so you may be too. Check before you buy if you can.
