Mammut Men's T Aenergy GTX
Great replacement for my Raichelles
Have cherished a pair of Raichelle walking boots through 8 years excellent service in The Lakes, Scotland and Dartmoor. Decided to semi-retire them and went for the nearest I could get ie Mammut. 1st thing I noticed was they are labelled Raichelle on the inners which gave me a bit of confidence. Have tried them out off the beaten track on moorland and on coast paths and found them to be every bit as good as their predecessors. Comfortable straight from the box, lightweight and with a bounce to the sole that I have not been used to. So far they have proved to be waterproof and they look the business too!!

I've had these for about a month now and have no reservations about them at all. I broke them in over a dew days long walks and had no problems with them, then took them to Austria for a weeks Alpine hiking and Via Ferrata climbing. Only slight slipping, probably due more to the hot weather than the boots...
They look great and have a good tightening system that allows good heel support.
Would certainly reccomend to a friend, and my brother is still jealous of them, he has Salomon Quest 4D GTXs

I didn't want to buy these, but really glad I did
I have worn Zamberlan Treklites for 20 years, across a number of model changes. Those boots are great, but as I get older my feet are getting wider and so I turned up looking for lightweight, wider, summer boots.
I didn't know Mammut as a brand, but I had such helpful and knowledgeable service that I went with the suggestion to try them and just loved the fit. Wider at the front of the foot but nice and narrow at the heel, giving a lovely fit.
Material - I was dubious about the amount of man-made fibres and thought that even with Gortex they'd not be a cosy and breathable as leather. What a surprise! They are cool and dry even after a 2 hour walk.
The heel is odd if you're used to normal walking boots (which are very oriented to heel-strike). These initially have more of a 'trainer' impact absorption, but then a 'rolling' feel that sees the foot 'roll' forward. Odd at first, but very natural and comfortable.
As with all boots I'd suggest trying them on rather than just buying as a result of this review (!) - but I think it's worth taking the time to look at them.
My one reservation at the moment is that the soles are more slippery than the Zamberlans, noticeably so on wet pavement and slick surfaces. I'm hoping that'll improve as they wear, since it'd be a demerit on wet rock.
Otherwise, an interesting purchase with which I'm happy thus far.

Good light weight boot poor finish
Good feeling boot for trail work , certainly not suitable for off trail with any regularity.Poor finish on toe rand which started to peel off after 4 weeks of use on gravel trails .Was really disappointed with that because I liked the feel and weight of the boot.

Most comfortable boots I've ever had
These boots were comfortable immediately out of the box. I have put about 120 miles on them so far and they are waterproof yet don't overheat my feet. I would definitely recommend these.

saved my feet
As a commercial dog walker I generally walk around 9 to 13 miles a day. As the weather was getting worse I wanted to replace my Salomon walking shoes with a proper pair of light weight walking boots. I had been looking for a couple of months and finally found the Mammut T Aenergy GTX. My main issue was the boots needed to be light enough for hours of use everyday plus waterproof. So far after a couple of months use I can't praise these enough. They have kept the water out and not given me any blisters as the Salomon's did. The fit is by far the best fitting boot I tried on and would buy another pair in a shot. Next spring i'll be looking into buying a pair of Mammut walking shoes.
