Excellent performance but overpriced
Have just returned from walking in the Alps and the performance of this jacket in keeping out the heavy rain during daily thunder and lightning storms was excellent. No rain penetrated and it was also an effective barrier against strong, cold winds. However, it needs to perform well for the price of the jacket which is excessive!

Simple but very effective
This is the first hard shell I have bought. I did a lot of research on different and shells and brands and Arc'teryx was the one that consistently kept coming out as the best. I chose the Beta AR as it seemed the best suited to my needs. The Alpha SV seemed a little over kill. The beta and alpha refer to the cut of the jacket not the quality by the way. AR = all rounder and SV= severe.
This shell is hard wearing and has never let me down in terms of dryness or wind proofing. The cut has obviously been well designed to allow a great freedom of movement (even when climbing) while wearing several layers but with out much noticeable hitching up of the jacket. The pockets are well placed so as to be accessible even if you're wearing a harness. The hood fits excellently over a helmet although I did find it a little bulky when I wasn't wearing one even after playing with the adjusting drawstrings. This jacket also has large pit zips, very good for venting if you've just done some strenuous hiking.
This Jacket is a little pricey but I think it's performance and durability justifies itself as an investment. Outdoor gear never looks cool but as Hardshells go I think this one looks pretty sharp.

Awesome jacket
This is a fantastic jacket - the best I have purchased!
Completely waterproof and very breathable. I love the fit too.

the coat is light, high performance and durable. If it have XS it will be better.

Great rainproof jacket
This is an amazingly lightweight jacket for one that is so windproof and rainproof. The zip opens on the opposite side to the convention but you get used to that quickly enough. The pockets are relatively high on the sides but I have a summer coat like that. It's only style and you can still wander around with hands-in-pockets.

This jacket made me a lucky guy. Helped to stay dry and happy even in tragic weather conditions. It is not only made from top quality materials but has same top quality finishing + excellent fitting.
I aprecie the performance, durability and comfort. This ProShell Jacket has it all!
I falled in love in Arc'teryx and just bought one for my girlfriend (worth its >400⬠price)
