Black Diamond Guide Glove
Not worth it
These gloves are advertised (on the card attached to them) as suitable for temperatures down to -17 C. They are not. I used these skiing last week. The coldest the temperature got to was around -7. My hands were seriously cold even on days when the temperature was only -3 or -4 C.
The insulation seemed to compact down within about a day of light use and even when I was in the lifts my hands would not warm up in the gloves- in fact it was better to take the gloves off. I have been better off in colder weather using a pair of Zanier gloves which I've had for the last 12+ years and which these gloves were supposed to replace.
By comparison, my fiancee (who gets cold hands and feet) was using a pair of Karrimor waterproof gloves which I purchased from another company a couple of years ago, costing £8. She did not suffer from cold hands during the week.
The gloves are durable, which I like, but they do not live up to their supposed temperature rating and I do not consider them fit for purpose. I am very disappointed with these gloves and will not recommend them to others. I am also disappointed that I listened to the member of Snow and Rock staff who recommended that they would be suitable.

Expensive but worth it
I was fed up with ski gloves disintegrating after only one season so I went for a very robust mountaineering glove that, so far, has stood up very well. The removable lining feature was also a must for me as skiing in the rain or very wet snow during the winter is becoming more and more common so being able to quickly dry kit is important. So far the gloves have proved to be completly waterproof

great glove, but not the warmest in -15c
Great glove for anything above -10. Found my fingers getting super cold in anything below this. They are however fantasticly made and will last a very long time.

I've always needed durable gloves plus liners when snowboarding in Canada but I decided to finally invest in a decent pair of gloves recently and am not disappointed. Theses do everything I need, they're the warmest gloves I've ever worn, no need for liners, they can take a battering, and they keep the snow out!
Only downside is they're a pretty large glove so would recommend trying before buying to ensure the size is right for you.
