Good Quality half way boot. This boot is well made and so far seems to be robust. I wouldn't recommend them for long days walking on hard terrain, as they aren't quite ridged enough for me while negotiating uneven ground and carrying a pack. However they are exactly what they claim to be, which is an approach boot. I wear them for all sorts of outdoor activities from parachuting to urban climbing and they have been comfortable, supportive and light weight throughout all activities and long days. 24 September 2012
Everything I expected I got these boots as a present for one very fussy husband. He has several requirements which include comfort, fit and flexibility. From the moment they went on his feet he declared them "spot on" He wears them to navigate up hills in order to fly remote control planes. The boots are completely waterproof and warm! 04 September 2012
Good lighweight compromise shoe that can handle activities from hiking for a few days to via ferrata climbs I needed a shoe that would handle a week's hiking and climbing in the Alps. Having used Brashers previously they had too thick a sole for any rock scrambling or via ferrata. I chose these Scarpas as they have a thinner sole, light weight and give ankle support. The Scarpas aquittted themselves well giving good feel on rock and whilst climbing. They proved very supportive when hiking all day or scrambling and needed no breaking in. The one observation i have is that if they are worn for significant time (5+ hours per day) on rocky paths the thinner sole does subject the feet to every stone and bump which aggravates sore feet towards the end of the day. That said i'd recommend these boots. 03 September 2012

Glossary

GORE-TEX Extended Comfort Footwear lining:A lining that is ideal for high-output activities and everyday use in moderate and warmer conditions. Extremely breathable, it prevents feet from overheating, provides optimum heat conductivity, excellent moisture management and durable waterproof protection.
Comfort Flex:Using nylon for its permanent performance qualities, the comfort flex midsole is moulded so it has minimum flex in the heel section but gives comfortable flex in the forefoot area.
Asymmetric lacing: Asymmetric lacing adapts to the foot's anatomy and enhances precise footwork as more pressure can be applied to the big toe.
Vibram Pro Pulse:The upper level's distinctive WAVE design and double density polyurethane generate propulsive force, maintain stability despite continual changes in posture, absorb the shock of ground impact at every step, and conserve energy in order to minimise muscular effort. The outsole uses a VIBRAM? rubber compound with studs of various thicknesses to guarantee excellent performance during climbing. A climbing zone on the front part, with studs at the centre and heel make it easier to tackle different kinds of terrain.
