Osprey Farpoint 70
There and back again
I've just returned from a trip to Australia and Japan where the Farpoint was my home-from-home for four months. During this time it has been mauled by aircraft baggage handlers, manhandled by coach drivers and stuffed to the seams by my good self but has come through it all unscathed.
My biggest concern was over how well the zips would cope when it was full but I'm pleased to report no problems. The material also copes well with rough treatment and there are no tears and barely signs of scuffing.
The bag is reasonably comfortable when used as a rucksack - probably not quite as comfortable as a dedicated rucksack but this is far more practical for storing and giving access to your stuff. I would have awarded 5 out of 5 if it was slightly more comfortable.
The detachable mini rucksack proved to be much more than a gimmick and was useful for short hikes and days out, when even a normal day sack can prove to be too big and hot to use.
The item features lots of storage space and I loved the fact that the straps can be hidden away to make the thing much sleeker and therefore less likely to be damaged when in transit. The two grab handles - one on the side and one on the top - are also a very nice touch and make it easier to manhandle.
I heartily recommend this piece of essential equipment and I have positive things to say about the Osprey Quasar day sack which I also took with me.
Osprey have clearly done their homework when designing this piece of kit. I even received compliments on it from the Japanese!

I love my osprey Farpoint bag. It's exactly what I ordered and the front bag is extremely helpful. The only negative points I have are that, sometimes the material feels like it might rip- even though it hasn't. I was expecting a tough zip lined material for the price of the bag. The other thing is, some side pockets would be handy.
Overall, I love the bag. I haven't lost anything on my travels and it is extremely useful that the straps zip into the main compartment when traveling so they don't attach to anything.
I know my Opsrey will be with me for quite a while.

tough, practical, well-designed & comfortable
Looking forward to a 4 week trip Stateside with this bag. The designers appear to have thought of everything, from practical day sack to a zipaway back strap feature to prevent damage in aircraft holds & internal tidy straps. It's also a comfortable bag to wear & the smaller back size is great for women without having to compromise on colour as you would do if choosing a 'female specific' backpack...(who wants to carry a bright pink rucksack?!)
I'm delighted with this bag & judging by my current Osprey day sack this is going to last for years. Can't believe how small this looks compared to my ancient 55 litre Berghaus...It's getting to the stage I'm considering inventing trips to make an excuse to use this!

Exceeds all expectations
Product is well suited to short and long term travel. The 'all around' zip makes it easy to access items anywhere in the bag. I also like the double security for the day sack of having both the zip on and hidden clip features.
The internal compression straps make it easy to stop items shifting and to pack more in a smaller space.
Only downside is there is no waterproof cover included but it's by no means a dealbreaker!

Best traveler's purchase. Unquestionable quality and performance
I recently purchased the Farpoint 70L for my year long travels and I have not had a single complaint about the bag.
Firstly the Lifetime warranty is one fantastic feature about the purchase and demonstrates Osprey's confidence in the quality of their products which is undoubtedly great. I have put my backpack through its paces from trekking through Sri Lanka, riding trains through India and currently on my way through the Himalayas and it has yet the fail me in any aspect.
The additional detachable 15L backpack has been the most useful item on my trip so far. I use it daily when I am at a hostel for carrying items such as a laptop, 2 water bottles, towels, lotions, and hats and all the other "lovely" things my wife accumulates (I only require the water bottle).
Undoubtedly my best purchase and completely satisfied with quality and value. The service and advise from Snow and Rock was spot on !!

Great quality, good value
Spent two months interrailing with this beauty and don't regret it for a second.
Very good if you're looking for more of a duffel bag sort of a pack, as you can't really access the main compartment if the daypack is zipped on. It opens um completely, just like a duffel, so it's very easy to organize. Doesn't have any nifty pockets if you want to quickly store you jacket or something like that, but I'd say it has more pros than cons.
As long as you're not trekking for most of the day I absolutley recommend it!
