Top notch stiff boots for freaky feet Always had a problem finding boots that fit well, I've got long but very narrow feet (size 12). This has caused problems with heel lift, foot wiggle and finding a comfortable setup, and would rather not have to faff about with laces throughout the day. And here's the solution! 3 different zones for the boa lacing system - the inner heel lock meant I could finally banish the heel-slip I am normally cursed with. The lower foot tightness I generally keep tight, and the top of the boot was tightened/slackened depending on what I was doing. Putting on the boots and doing them up is nice and fast, such a difference from my old pair. I generally use a set-back freeride setup. On piste and off I like my boots tight to keep things supportive and responsive. A little looser in the park when challenged by the younger ones in the party. No slackening of the Boa system while riding, kept me going all day long. At lunch/end of day it was nice to be able to just pop the three dials and slacken everything off without any messing about. Despite initial thoughts on the positioning of the inner Boa dials (on the inside, thought they might catch when walking) I didn't have any issues and did not need to walk like a cowboy to get about. The boot was heat-molded in store using a couple of toecaps just to give me a little more room at the end. Stayed with the original footbed to test out for a week in France at Xmas, I think I'll be keeping it for when I go again in March - it's comfortable enough for me to not be able to justify getting custom footbeds. Pros: Kept my heel locked down Light Comfortable Stiff Completely waterproof - an issue with my old boots Feet stayed warm and dry all day long Easy and quick to put on/adjust/take off No pressure points after the initial break-in (1-2 days on slope, was banned from wearing them around the house) Cons: Full-size footprint (for large feet some companies give the boot the profile of a size smaller) They're black. A little dull. I was tempted by the Salomon F4s as they looked pretty snazzy, but the feel and fit of the Thraxis won out. We've got a competition going for the most outrageous outfit in our group and these boots do not help me one bit. I'll forgive 'em though, as they are mint boots and I thoroughly recommend you at least try them on. In fact, I'm going to put mine on now and reminisce on the holiday before the harsh reality of work kicks in tomorrow... 02 January 2013

The Thraxis is the ultimate in customising your boot to fit exactly how you want it to. It’s the first boot on the market that uses 3 Boa closure dials; upper closure, lower closure and an external dial that adjusts the liner so you no longer have to undue your whole boot to make any fine liner adjustments. In addition to these benefits you have a Vibram Pro Light Sole with harhmellow for the last say in cushioning, and a 3D formed Dual Density Footbed with Harshmellow for better support. The flex is suited to riders that prefer a stiffer boot for better response that matches well with higher performance boards.

Glossary

Boa Focus:Turn the dials to tighten the cable. Retracts loose cable and minimizes closure turns, making it one of the fastest Boas ever. 2 dials close the upper and lower lace zones seperately, giving a precise fit around all parts of your foot and allowing you to ride the lower looser and upper section tighter or vice versa, depending on what you're riding.
Boa Conda:A minimized harness built into the shell of the boot allows you to tighten, loosen or adjust the liner from the outside of the boot using a simple and easy to use Boa dial.
Intuition Pro Foam 3D liner:Uses high density thermo-forming Ultralon foam. Designed to be custom moulded to the foot, it is lightweight, flexible and durable, and has a 3D moulded Dual EVA insole w/Harshmellow pods.
Harshmellow:A magical rubber compound that dampens vibrations, absorbs shock and minimized rebound for softer more controlled landings.
Super Light Vibram sole:Very light sole with tread patterns designed with Vibram for peak performance, reducing the rubber coverage while maintaining superb traction and durability. Harshmellow in the forefoot and heel.
