The North Face Men's Point It Down Jacket

The North Face Men's Point It Down Jacket 4 5 1 1
Very warm jacket I purchased this jacket mainly for skiing and used it for the first time last week at Serre Chevalier. It certainly simplified my skiing setup, requiring just one or two layers underneath for most conditions. I used either a silk undershirt with an Icebreaker baselayer, or a long sleeve polypropylene top. That was sufficient for the peaks, wind and driving snow. I was warm at all times. The underarm vents are definitiely necessary for warm days or when skiing off-piste with effort. The jacket is not heavy, which is a big plus, and movement is unrestricted. Off the piste the jacket allowed me to get to the pub and back with just a shirt on underneath. The jacket is not waterproof but its water resistance is more than sufficient to keep one dry underneath. Overall I am very pleased with the jacket, but the price is pretty high at £360, which is why I take one notch off the overall rating. 04 February 2014

Recco® avalanche rescue reflectorUsing sophisticated radar technology, the Recco reflector forms the passive element of a 2-part avalanche search system. Ski resorts and mountain rescue teams carry Recco detectors, which send out a search signal, and the Recco® reflector bounces back a directional signal that directs the rescuer straight to the reflector. More than 600 resorts and rescue services around the world use the Recco Rescue System as part of their immediate response.
