Intuition Liners Pro Tour Liner

Rated 3 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by A dream of a liner I have the Dreamliner version of this (the same except mine has no cut out above ankle to allow for flex when in walk mode, or padding below foot so it has more space to take Sidas custom insoles). Whilst S&R did heat mould them to my feet very well, the internal shape of these models of Intuition liner (both Dreamliner and ProTour) adjusts to your feet every time you use them. The foam is designed to re-mould itself slightly as it is heated by warmth from your feet. Initially the liners felt a bit tight, but that soon passed and they now achieve that Holy Grail of feeling both comfortable and snug (for control). I believe that they also resist packing out, but I haven't had them long enough to confirm this. All my previous (well fitted, but built down to a price) stock liners have come with varying degrees of pressure points, cold toes, black toenails, and inadequate heel hold. These problems are now a thing of the past. No more blisters. No more lost toenails. None of that feeling that frostbite is starting to creep into my toes. The tongue is a bit thin compared to the stock liners I've had, but can be fully laced up which improves shin comfort and hold considerably. There is a bit of a 'bar' effect pressure point at the top of the tongue, but this disappears once adjustments have been made with the lacing and boot power strap (I found using it against overlap of shell rather than against the liner was effective). One big advantage is no more struggling with removing from the boot for overnight drying, or with putting them back again in the morning (note you shouldn't put them or custom insoles on a heated boot rack, as it will alter the mouldings - as I found out to my cost with my previous custom insoles). They are very good in this regard. And you notice how light they are compared to stock liners, which is a plus for uphill walks. However, I find it more difficult to get my feet in and out of these liners than others I've used, probably due to the snug fit. Also watch out for the laces getting caught in the overlap of the boot clog (whilst you climb into the boot), which requires me to lift the overlap slightly. The medium dense closed cell foam that these liners are made from is resistant to moisture transfer, which is a double edged sword. The advantage is that any melted snow getting past your boot overlaps should not get thru to your foot. The disadvantage is that this makes it more difficult for perspiration to get away (normally absorbed into stock liners!). But in practice I didn't find this to be a problem. Also the inside has an anti-bacterial coating which appears effective in preventing odour build-up. Also the liner more easily dries out overnight (I've always found it completely dry in the morning unlike some stock liners). Some other Intuition liners (e.g. the Power Wrap) come with a denser foam for more control. I was a bit worried about the 'comfort' bias of the less dense Dreamliner when I ordered it, but in practice I didn't find this to be a problem. It was still a step up from stock liners I've used, and has good heel hold, and wrapping around foot and lower leg (I ski mainly off piste at an 'advanced' level). The foam not only moulds on the inside to your feet, but also the outside to the shell of your boot. You may ask why spend another £150 or so on liners when your ski boots already come with stock liners. My boots were almost new so the question was certainly uppermost in my mind. But having made this leap, I now consider it one of my best ever purchases for skiing. Because I can make it thru a ski holiday without any pain, any frozen toes, with a nice dry liner every morning, with more control, and more comfort. 07 June 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by frazer exceptionally uncomfortable, left my heals bruised after 1 day in the mountain, had to revert to y old inners which are far from perfect but a million times more comfortable than these things. I will be returning to snow and rock in Bristol when I get a chance. 24 March 2014
