Fantastic Lightweight Boot I purchased these boots a couple of weeks ago after many positive reviews. Having previously owned a pair of Meindl's which had split after only a couple of uses, I needed a new pair of lightweight and durable boots for a trip to Snowdonia. I unfortunately didn't have time to "bed" these boots in prior to my trip, but it turned out not to be a problem. I have quite narrow feet and the boots fitted perfectly, like a walking slipper if you will. I threw everything at them, walking up Snowdon in the driving rain, and scrambling up Tryfan, but they worked perfectly. Out of all my co-hikers I was the only one not to get blisters, and I would put this largely down to the boots. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is a serious hiker. 19 October 2014
Comfortable and light hiking boots straight out of the box - so good I bought two pairs! These are great boots for all year round all terrain hiking. They are a great fit for my narrow heeled feet and no blisters ever even after a full-on two weeks of hiking in the Italian Dolomites or walking the Coast to Coast . Also, I am on my third pair having used them or their earlier models for the last four years. As a guide told me once - "if you find a pair of boots that your feet love, best that you buy two pairs so that if the manufacturer stops making them you aren't left with the pain of finding replacements". The only problem I have had with my old boots is that the gore-tex lining did not appear to cope well with bouts of torrential rain. So, if you intend to use them in persistently wet conditions, these boots may not be for you - personally, I am willing to put up with this in favour of the significant upside (perhaps the issue has been resolved :-) ). Alternatively, buy the boots and, if needs be and the boots wet-through, ask the excellent and helpful staff at Snow and Rock to see if they can get replacements for you from Salomon! 08 October 2014
Waterproof and good quality but uncomfortable on leg. This is a good product for walking. I have recently walked up Snowdon and Cadir Idiris and would recommend them for waterproofness and very sturdy. However it irritated my legs if done up tight, so had to have them slightly loose. 18 August 2014
An excellent durable tough but llight weight boot suited for all terrain. I'm a mountaineer over 15 years now, I am very fond of these boots, I have used them in the Himalaya, South Asia and in the European hills, They are very sturdy yet light & well balanced with excellent foot and ankle support. Impact shock is very low and they grip rock and earth well giving me confidence, comfort and quality when I'm going long distances or even short walks over bog, rocks, scree, sand and even short stints on glacial ice if required. In one adventure I did the full 4 week Everest base camp trek in these boots crossing the icey Chola pass. I recommend them to anyone serious about pure quality while trekking or climbing. Fit for purpose and comfort even when the going got tough! I was looking for a light, sturdy and supportive pair of boots to wear on the Tour Mont Blanc. The weather can be unpredictable in the high Alps and so it proved this July with lots of rain and slippery trails. My feet stayed dry and the grip was excellent and I wore them straight from the box. I combined them with my existing in soles and had no feet problems over the 170K. I'm not too surprised as I've used a pair of trail shoes from the same company for many years. I'd recommend them them for comfort, lightness and durability. 17 July 2014
Durable, comfortable and comparatively light weight These are excellent boots and a great improvement on my previous pair. I wore them continuously for 8 days hiking on quite rough terrain with very little wearing in and had no discomfort whatsoever. I often suffer from runners knee but again experienced no pain when using these boots, I added some Supetfeet insoles and this has proved a great combination. 30 June 2014
Excellent boot which was great in the High Atlas Mountains I recently purchased these boots as my excellent Raichle boots eventually died after a number of years great service. I have just returned from a trip in the Atlas Mountains which included Mount Toubkal. The terrain was very rocky and these boots stood up to all the Atlas could throw at them. I had no wet rocks to test them on but they gripped well on smooth rocks (I thought they were better than my Vibram soles on other shoes) and handled scree well. I had no chance to wear the boots in prior to departure and so was a little apprehensive about spending the whole week in them. They did not cause me any issue and no blisters were proof that they can be worn straight out of the box (obviously not ideal). I particular liked the lightness of the boots and they do look good. A feature that I found really useful was the locking system with the laces. After securing the lower part of the boot and locking the laces in place I could then easily tighten the upper part to my desired level. These boots are a great buy for any walker or if you are doing some serious hiking whilst back backing, they would serve you well. A fellow traveller had the same pair and he could not fault them either. A very solid boot and great service by Snow and Rock. 02 June 2014
Comfortable light and waterproof Bought this boot as lighter alternative for trail hiking when conditions are dry. I think I can do without my other heavy duty ones now though. I knew the Salamon were light, but they've also proved to be superbly comfortable, rugged and very waterproof in some pretty wet conditions so they're now my go to option for almost anything. I'll be climbing Ben Nevis next month, and these boots will be on my feet when I do. 12 May 2014
