Strong and Light weight
Flying to Spain to walk some of the Camino. I needed to protect webbing etc. on my backpack, as it was not possible to carry it on to the planes. I needed something lightweight that I could include in my backpack as I walked. The Osprey Airporter was the answer. With ample capacity, light weight and yet robust enough to take the 'abuse ' of the baggage handlers . The inclusion of a foldaway shoulder strap was great as it aided in the ease of carrying my kit to and from airports etc. I would highly recommend the Osprey Airporter as a safe means of transporting a Backpack.

Good idea but not practical to carry
In terms of keeping the backpack safe, yes, I agree, it is good and easy to put on BUT once you put your backpack in the airporter, it is very difficult to carry as the airporter only has a small and thin leash. So you need to put it on at the very last minute and take it off as soon as you get your bag otherwise not very practical.

Does the job
Straightforward bag for covering backpack type luggage to protect straps. Does what it says on the tin.

Great for keeping your backpack safe and makes check-in MUCH easier
I bought this airporter bag to cover my backpack and its many straps when flying both short and long haul flights. It's actually really handy because you can add extra bits in that don't fit in your pack, like your jacket if you overdressed for a flight to a hotter destination. You can also lock it up. I am still travelling and yet to get to SE Asia, but have been advised my the S&R guys that it'll be worthwhile when taking buses as it helps keep protected from rain and dirt. Of all the flights I've taken, it's come out within minutes on the baggage reclaim belt, probably as its smaller and lighter than a suitcase. It also makes check-in really easy as theres no messing about tying your straps up etc. I was told it was a necessity, but have seen loads of packs come through airports without a cover. I would however, hate for my backpack to lose a strap and have to buy a new one. On a sad note, it has a little rip in it already but better it than my backpack. It probably could be made with heavier duty materials, but as it's super light, maybe not. It's a luxury item but so worth it.
