Rated 5 out of 5Â by Mart55 This product is well designed and very functional
Used the tent for 3 night s camping in 2 different locations and had to erect for the first night in the dark. I found the tent very easy to erect and dismantles in a few minutes. I bought a compression bag and got the tent and fly sheet down to a very compact size. I packed the poles and pegs seperately and loved the light weight of the whole thing. The tent is extremely well designed and roomy and usefully has an entrance at each end so you can erect and then choose the side with less wind etc to use as the entry point. The only criticism I have and this is a minor gripe is that the zips are fairly small and if you rush them they will snag. All in I am very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Theo1764 Perfect for trekking!
Superbly light, very handy if you're carrying you're gear for a prolonged period of time. Pitching is very easy, pole mechanism makes it possible to pitch under the outer layer, great if it's raining. Very spacious, enough for two plus large gear packs, or three plus medium packs. On offer the price of just over £200 is great value for money.

My partner & I had been looking for a three man tent for quite some time. We had several prerequisites, it had to be light, pack down small, easy to assemble, free standing, relatively cheap and have some durability. We were asking a lot but we think we nailed it on the MSR Elixir 3. As we planned to back pack and do several hikes with this tent, all those prerequisites had to be met & upon getting it back home, we quickly created space in the lounge (no garden!) and set it up. We ticked most of the boxes just upon seeing it up in the lounge. It was free standing, & easy to assemble (even easier with their colour coded poles). The weight, size & price were already evidenced in store.
The only thing we couldn't check was how durable it will be. We have taken it out for a night camping but the weather was really mild for December and there was no rough winds. It does come with a footprint which I can only assume will give it a much longer life span.
One of the great aspects of the tent was the head space. Although there are other 3 man tents with larger floor space, the head space created by its unique pole system, is brilliant. My only concern might be the zippers on the doors as they seem to be small and I've always found that if I'm going to have zipper problems, it's on the smaller ones. I hope time proves me wrong on that though.
All in all, I really can't wait to get out back packing this year and being the envy of others when they see this tent.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Rachel67 A great tent
We bought this tent after some serious research. We are motorbike campers so need gear which is lightweight but we still want value for money and as much room as we can get in a lightweight tent. This fits the bill perfectly! I was a bit dubious as some of the reviews we watched didn't give very much indication of how spacious it would be and those that do show you an empty tent so it's difficult to gauge but this is sooo spacious! Quick to put up and with a door either side he won't be climbing over me if he wants to get out in the night. There's plenty of space to get dressed without having to get into your jeans lying down and wriggling around like a caterpillar! No guy ropes to be falling over when we've had a pint or two either! We searched everywhere and no-one could beat the price at Snow and Rock. Brilliant buy and should make our bike rallies all the more fun.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Nkms67 Excellent tent for light weight camping
I bought this tent for a European motorcycle tour and it didn't let me down. The tent is easy to put up on your own so long as you remember to peg the ground sheet down (unlike myself on the first time used). Loads of room and packs away easily in its compact Baggie. Can't rate it for rain as we didn't have any but looking at the spec, I doubt I'll have many problems.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by wolfie73 a whole lot of tent for a reasonable price!
I bought this tent to take my kids camping, theyre 6 and 2. I dont drive so i needed a tent i could carry easily and was light. I also required lots of internal space and 2 porches so i can store my sons trolley and kit. After researching many 3 man tents this was by far the best i came accross. The room inside is astounding considering the overall weight of just over 3kg, including the footprint and other accessories i bought for it, guys, shock absorbers and gear loft. Theres loads of storage space and room to move about and to get dressed in. One morning i had some condensation so i pulled the flysheet back half way and it dried in minutes. The quality is better than some higher priced tents ive seen, and ive seen a lot as i used to sell tents! I highly recomend this tent, msr have got it spot on again!

So we wanted a lightweight tent! After much research and several conversations we reached a decision, the Elixir (MSR). We could have gone to several stockists within our area but chose Snow & Rock, the guys in Didsbury, Manchester offer great customer service. They talked us through the product and even offered price match. Amazing! They then went on to talk us through how to use and other points to consider when pitching. On getting this product home we wanted to trial and time erecting it so we emptied it out of the bag, it was so simple no head scratching, poles went one into another, secured at the corners and attach the fly sheet. All poles and tabs are colour coded. Comes with a footprint too. Has a quick erect option too. Amazing product and only weighs in around 2kg. Wow. Great tent would highly recommend this product and of course the Snow & Rock team at Didsbury...

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Brian161 An excellent and spacious tent.
I bought the MSR Elixir 3 recently and have used it to go to two climbing meets. It seems very durable, on both occasions it stood up to sustained and heavy rainfall and it survived one very blustery night with ease. It is very spacious and well ventilated, and this makes it very live-able in, even when you have loads of climbing equipment stashed in the tent with you.
The Elixir is very straightforward to put up, even by headlamp, and comes with a footprint, which really helps keep the inside of the tent dry when you pitch your tent on wet ground. It is also easy to dissassemble and pack into it's oversized stuff-sack. The only drawback (and it is minor) is that the flysheet could come a little closer to the ground to keep very strong wind out.
All in all though, a great tent and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a three person tent.
