Mammut Men's Impact GORE-TEX
Great all rounder
Used mainly for fell walking in the Lake District these boots are very strong and stable, toe box and heel very firm but not uncomfortably so. Regarding the "breaking in" period there was no discernible difference from day one to a month down the line, boots were good to go straight out of the box.
Initial explorations into wet and boggy territory have revealed no flaws, boots 100% dry.The Vibram outsole is excellent, incredibly grippy and reliable on a multitude of different surfaces. Only criticism is that the inner sole could maybe do with a hint more padding as after a day out walking there is a slight throbbing through the sole of the foot when descending a hill, especially on rocky or stony paths, however this may be a trade off for the excellent grip and stability of the outer sole. All in all the boots are well recommended.

comfortable and light
Remember how your favourite running shoes feel comfortable and light, well those qualities are here in the Mammut Impact GTX.
My feet feel safe and dry and the Impacts are easy to wash the mud off at the end of the day.

Comfortable from the first wear
Theses boots are fabulous. I have had a few pairs over the years and walk the dogs in the hills every day and never have wet feet. I can wear them from brand new and have never had blisters.

rigid, and very poor grip in damp
The boot build quality is okay, although the heel section is rigid and hurt my achilles tendon in a way that no boot I have ever owned has, but that may just be me. The sole of the shoe is made of some form of vibram compound, and provides easily the worst grip in damp conditions of any boot I have ever tried. Whatever you do, don't go walking anywhere where you might encounter wet rock with these on (that rules out large sections on the UK). Comfort-wise it's okay, but again, it's a little too rigid, but the cushioning seems fine.
