Worth every penny! Its hard to recommend a jacket bought out of season, but with the weather we've been having recently, it has come in very handy and has already shown me that I have made an excellent choice. Having previously gone for more padded jackets as I get cold very easily (not ideal when you are a skier), it was with some trepidation that I took on board the knowledgeable advice of the staff member and went for this light but oh so comfortable jacket. It is so warm, yet you don't overheat or look like a Michelin Man. Meticulously made and in a bright but not overpowering color, the Eider/W Solden II Down Jacket was a very good investment. It was more than I originally wanted to pay, but I have no regrets despite not having christened it yet on a piste ... I cant wait until next season! 17 April 2013
Nice and warm but didn't last long! Great jacket to withstand the cold mountain temperatures. Good fit and lots of pocket 'storage'. However, after just four days of wearing the inner zip fell off....not great. Luckily on warranty but still takes three weeks to have it repaired which isn't ideal in the middle of the ski season. 11 March 2013

Glossary

2L Defender® Domino:Ultralight and very flexible fabric with good waterproofing and breathability, and a very nice hand feel.
Cormax:Abrasion resistant and quick-drying fabric used in sensitive areas such as ears and neck.
Waterproof Rating:This is measured and expressed as Hydrostatic Head in millimetres (mm). To find out the Hydrostatic Head of a fabric the manufacturer will take a clear tube and clamp their material over the bottom end. They will then fill the tube slowly with water and watch to see how high the column of water can get before the material lets drips through. The higher the hydrostatic head, the better the water protection. The European Standard a fabric must meet to be classified as waterproof is a Hydrostatic Head rating of 1500mm, and on average, outerwear fabrics tend to have a hydrostatic head of 10000mm and above.
Breathability Rating:Breathability is measured as a rating in grams of how much vapour a square metre of fabric will allow to pass through in 24 hours (g/m2/24). For general use, 10000g/m2/24 and above is desirable. It should be noted that breathable fabrics do not stop you sweating and care should be taken as to clothing worn beneath waterproof/breathable shells. High quality base layers and fleece or insulated midlayers should in themselves draw vapour from the body and pass it outwards, thus allowing the outer fabric to do its job. Cotton clothing should never be worn as part of a performance clothing layering system.
