Dan gets rewarded this year with his own pro model Volcom collaboration. The first Volcom colab on a snowboard available to buy. But more about the highlights of the board itself. It’s designed for the rider that likes a slightly stiffer board for going fast, stability on jumps and off centre landings, and explosive power everywhere else. It features the Freerde FK shape that blends classic camber between the feet for response and pop with slight rocker in the tip and tail so you maintain stability but gain extra float in powder. Internally the core has been reinforced with Basalt fibreglass and stringers to really give the board some power, and the base is sintered for maximum glide.
| RFC Sustainable Bamboo Dual Core | With Dan Brisse’s riding style in mind, our newest core was designed to perform when it’s all on the line. Ollie power, strength, dampening and reliability were terms emphasized in the design room. This poplar based core has been beefed up with bamboo stringers through the inserts as well as along the edges. This increases the energy throughout the board making it more responsive and powerful. Since bamboo is one of the strongest woods available, durability goes through the roof allowing you to go bigger, faster, and jib with confidence in even the sketchiest of scenarios. |
| Wax Infused Rotation Sintered Speed Base | These bases are created by taking pellets of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene and compressing them through heat and pressure. The miniscule spaces left behind absorb wax and allow for extended periods of high speed shredding as the wax wicks to the surface while you ride. This prevents your base from drying out and keeps the surface feeling freshly waxed throughout the day. Properly maintained sintered bases are fast, durable, and the overwhelming choice of pro snowboarders worldwide. |
| New Age Directional Sidecut | Our New Age Directional sidecuts are Progressive sidecuts, which also incorporate Death Grip™ - a reverse sidecut arc in the midsection of the board. Due to a reduced effective edge as a result of hybrid camber shapes, this reverse camber arc provides a point of contact to retain control and consistency throughout the turn. |
| Flat Kick Technology | With the level of hype surrounding reverse camber, it’s clear that this snowboard design theory is here to stay. However, it’s how that theory is actually applied that will differentiate board designs and make one ride better than another. With Flat Kick design technology we’ve tightened the profile radius that blends the shoulders of the board into the tip and tail height. This is a key area that influences the tempo and feel of turn initiation. With traditional larger tip and tail arcs, the loaded camber contributes to a board’s acceleration into a turn. On reverse camber boards the contact points are elevated, removing this camber contribution. As a result, the same traditional tip and tail radii would make the board feel sluggish. Specialized Flat Kick tip and tail arcs combined with elevated reverse camber contact points achieve the ideal tempo into turns. This allows you to have the shorter effective edge of a forgiving, easy to ride, reverse camber snowboard that is still responsive and quick edge to edge. |
