Black Diamond Contour Elliptic (pair)
Great overall product
Really happy with this purchase (first used for climbing Grossglocken in Austria - 3,796m).
Chose them as they were very strong / sturdy. The locking mechanism is much better than the twisty version and much easier to use with gloves on.
They're pretty light and the extra 40 pounds for the carbon version (c. 40g difference per pole) didn't seem worth it at all.
Advice in store was invaluable and fully underlines the value of purchasing in store (when also price matching).
Last but not least, they look awesome.

top tool for the mountain
Good features easy to carry around, not too heavy, fully adjustable, rugged enough for steepest terrain, quick and easy to adjust.

The best poles i've used
I've just returned from Annapurna in the Himalayas, trekking 150 odd kilometres through some extremely steep terrain in all kinds of weather, ice, snow. My last set of poles died on Kilimanjaro hence buying the new ones.
I rely heavily on poles for both descent and ascent and i put an incredible amount of pressure and leverage on them, i found these poles to be exceptionally strong and for the first time i have a set of poles that i can re-use. The adjustment is wide arranging, i'm 6'3 and they were plenty long enough.
At very steep ascents i felt no buckling or bending of any kind and this gave me the confidence to really lean on them at times. The grips are excellent, very comfortable and no problems with sweat or blisters. I used them for 11 consecutive days for around 7 hours a day at both low and high altitude. The best poles i have owned to date.
