Great quality, superb jacket Bought this in the end of season sale after keeping my eye out over the winter for an insulating layer. I'd worn an Eider "Slide" jacket to death, so needed something of good quality to replace it. Arc'teryx produce (in my humble opinion) the best outdoor gear in the world. The Atom is another example if this, it's brilliant. Yes you tend to pay a bit more than the mass market " fashion" brands, but it's very much worth it. Awesome in every way. Generous fit, warm yet lightweight & packable. Scrunches down to fit in my work bag, good length, insulated hand-warming pockets. Nice little internal pocket just inside the zip too. Perfect. 12 May 2014
Good stuff Had an Atom LT and loved it. This is a good bit warmer. Got this in the sale 30% off well worth the trip to S&R. Usual Arcteryx quality. Good fit if you are taller. I am 6'7" and still only take and XL. Very pleased. 31 March 2014
Good Athletic Fit, not as warm as I first thought it would be. I'm reasonably impressed with this Atom jacket; it had great reviews and has performed well so far. The arm length is a good length and the cut is athletic as would be expected from arcyteryx products. The jacket is exceptionally lightweight and doesn't look too much like you are climbing Everest, when you are actually marching down Elgin Crescent. The build quality is high and it looks like this jacket will last for a long time. There is a kind of elastic neck gaiter built into the jacket, which works really nice at keeping spindrift and wind out of your collar. Under the arms the jacket has been stripped of its insulation, which seems like a pretty good feature. I was very suspicious of the elasticated cuffs on the sleeve; I tend to find them annoying because they pull your gloves off when you pull the jacket off and prevent you from venting when you are hot. I have been impressed though with the cuff at keeping drafts out and not found the jacket difficult to pull off. I wouldn't let this put you off if you are concerned. With every product there are niggles...I'm a little frustrated that the jacket doesn't fold down into it's own pocket, like similar jackets. The hood is not wired and sits on my head like a potato sack; I really don't know why this is such a hard thing for arcteryx to get right. It doesn't work that well with my helmet either. The pockets are too small to get into with gloves on, or put your gloves in and seem a little bit like they were designed for your ipod/phone as opposed to anything else. Finally I also feel its not as warm as my old Rab Promaloft 1 equipped photon hoody which was at least 5 years old (unfortunately nicked at the crag and no longer made my rab) although maybe its just my bones that are getting older. This doesn't make sense, but I definitely don't feel as warm in this jacket; make what you like of that. I intended to use this as a synthetic belay jacket for use when climbing as opposed to a big active mid layer as some users seem to want to use this as. 03 February 2014
Super lightweight, super performance. I've had many heavy and bulky jackets but wanted to go for somehting more lightweight and breathable as I'm in and out of buildings and my car all day. Did my research and opted for the Atom SV Hoody. Took a slight risk of buying online and would have possibly grabbed a Large size but I read some 6' guys were buying mediums so i bought the medium. I'm 5' 10" and pretty slim and it's a great fit. Have worn it under my North Face gore tex jacket withough any problmes even though the NF jacket does fit pretty snug, I wouldn't have thought the Atom would have such a low profile but it fits under the NF just fine. I've mostly been wearing the Atom on it's own out and about in the snow, some light rain and strong winds! Seems to deal with the wind better than a fleece. There is some rain resitance coating which has held up so far. You will love the fleecy lining in the pockets :D and you will appreciate the cuffs on the sleeves, they are slim fitting but stretchy (but not tight) so help with the insulation and stop the elements sneaking in there, wish I had this when I was boarding. The hood can be tightened despite what I've read elsewhere. It's great that you can go from snow/wind -C temps to inside a hot building but still feel comfortable, othertimes you might end up carrying your heavy jacket or suffering in the heat. Really pleased with the quality and will probably get other products from Arc'teryx in the future. At first it's hard not to be slightly dissapointed about this little jacket when it first arrives knowing how much you paid but can't say that I regret buying it at all, fantastic quality and performance so far! 06 February 2013
Quality insulated jacket. Everything you expect from Arcteryx, well constructed and does exactly what it was designed to do. Totally cuts out wind driven cold and breathes exceptionally well when worn through high exertion exercise. Possibly the best piece of outerwear kit I've bought, highly recommend to others even though its in the premium price bracket. 09 January 2013

Awesome product I love this jacket, so light and therefore comfortable to wear. It’s really warm. Again another surprise given that it is so light. Comes in great colours. The elasticated lycra on the cuffs and back of the neck are fantastic features that help aid keep the cold out and the warmth in and further aiding to the comfort due to its soft touch feel. The jacket fits really well due to a tailored cut to form around your body and arms. I’ve not been out in the rain yet but expect it will do well in light showers. Great product! 21 November 2012

The Arc'teryx Atom SV hoody is an insulated hoody that features a moisture-resistant outer face fabric and an extra thick dose of synthetic Coreloft insulation. Lightweight, compressible and packable, it is breathable enough to be used as a super warm mid-layer and protective enough to be an effective outer layer.
