Rated 5 out of 5Â by CJBear10 First class product, comfortable, good fit and feels secure on all terrain.
Ticks all the boxes for an approach shoe, edges well and has good friction on rocky ground.

I bought this shoe, not really for what it was intended for, but for use at work, driving to and from site, and moving in an environment, in the countryside where a steel toe boot wasn't comfortable for all day wear. First off the quality, as with the other Salewa product I have (Mountain trainer GTX) is great, not a stitch out of place. These are non waterproof and your feet will get a bit damp walking through wet grass, but they are pretty breathable too so feet do dry out pretty well. For a general walking shoe they are fantastic, offering a decent amount of support and rigidity without being too stiff, and also flexibility more akin to a trainer but with the underfoot support of a light walking boot. The sole has good traction and it is a good wide fit, (note, not all salewa products seem to fit the same way, my mtn trainers are a size bigger than these and fit equally well). The best part about these shoes is the lacing system and the insole, with laces right down to the toes, you can be sure of a fully customisable fit, and the insole allows you to remove part of it to widen the shoe in the toe area for an almost custom fit. The 3F system really holds you feel down in the shoe to stop your foot moving about. The only downside i find is that the tongue, because it is fastened close to the toe, when you cinch the laces tight, it can tend to bunch up a little in the toe area, but this seems, after a while wearing them to be a more aesthetic rather than practical issue, any feeling you might have on your toes from the tongue seems to disappear the more you wear these shoes. In short, if you are looking for a quality hiking shoe with good grip and a sticky sole that will also take you into town, these are the shoes to get.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by lucrecio great shoe so far
I've had a pair for one month now, worn only in urban conditions but did give them a good walking already. The fit is incredibly comfortable. I'll have to see when rock and gravel are tearing away at the materials to judge the quality of the build. They do feel sturdy despite the fact that the materials are so flexible.

Been a fan of Salewa for some time now and bought these to add to my collection. These are a light weight approach/trail shoe. All of the Salewa range are extremely comfortable, durable, look great and perform fantastically. A good test for any approach/trail shoe is on wet rock - where these Salewa Firetail excel.
Designed for comfort. Designed to perform.
Highly recommended these or any other Salewa footwear.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Nooth Definitely worth a look
These shoes have so far performed very well on wet and sandy ground, proving to be comfortable and confidence inspiring. They feel lighter weight than my previous favourite approach shoe, the La Sportiva Boulder X. Whilst they are a lot roomier in the toe box than the La Sportivas, they have no less feel because of it.
The shoes come with an optional insole to tailor the fit, which is very effective.
Snow and Rock stocked a great selection of shoes to choose from, and the staff in the Bristol store were helpful and knowledgeable.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by jeremiah got to love Salewa, and Snow & Rock
Already own some Salewa products; very fine pair of via feratta boots and exceptional ruck sack, plus some clothing items. Required some new approach/trail shoes, and liked the styling of this new product. Knowing the quality of Salewa I chose this pair. Worn them on a few walks about the sunny cotswolds, but intended use is for my yearly adventures in the dolomites, where I have no doubt they will be excellent, but, they are a great all round versitile pair of shoes. Great removable/addable insole inserts. As I'm sure your aware, fitting is imperative and Salewa guarantee no blisters! Be sure to take your time in store to ensure good fit, and I'd advise trying a size or half smaller than usual. I wholly trust and would readily recommend Salewa products to anyone, I'd put my reputation on it!
Snow & Rock; splendid service. Good range of quality products, knowledgeable and friendly staff, attractive looking store - I visited Gloucester Quays store.
to sum-up, I'm chuffed all round and will visit Snow & Rock again. Joy.
