Black Diamond trace their roots back 55 years, to a time when the limits of mountaineering performance were dictated by a combination of equipment capability, individual ability, and sheer will. The founders sought to fill a need for gear that could stand up to rigors of life in the vertical space, improve the speed and efficiency of ascending new routes, and preserve rather than scar the features they were trying to ascend. In designing, using, and evolving everything from hammers to Hexentrics, these pioneers developed a model that continues to serve and guide Black Diamond today.
Their work follows a simple pattern: Use. Design. Engineer. Build. Repeat.
