Sherpa Men's Lithang Jacket
Smart, high quality of the details, sensible pockets and underarms vents - great stuff.
This jacket attracted me because of it look: smart, high quality of materials and details, sensible pockets and underarms vents - great stuff. I have not got wet spending a whole day at Notting Hill Carnival on Monday this year :)

Great Jacket, well made with a mountain fit
I was lucky enough to get a training day out at Stanage with the guys from Sherpa. One of the bits of kit we got to test was this jacket.
firstly I should mention the fit - it is quite baggy so would work well as a mountain jacket you want to put over any number of layers or to use as a general all round jacket. The length of the jacket and sleeves were spot on but personally I would go a little trimmer in the chest. That said I could still easily see my feet while scrambling around the edge and didn't really notice this once I was out wearing it.
It's Gore-Tex fabric is top notch keeping out the strong wind at the top of the edge well and adding a nice amount of warmth. The colour is a nice bright red which looks good in photos and will allow you to be spotted should you need to be.
Features wise the hood draw cords tuck away well and the clasp is nice and small. The hood itself is a good balance between fitting a helmet and not having too much fabric when using it without. The four pockets are well placed with too smaller upper chest pockets (great for a phone / camera) and two large pockets that will easily take a map or large pair of gloves. All of the details are nicely finished with zipper garages, extra thin seam tape and all the attention you'd expect to have from a quality brand.
I can't comment much on longevity but I tried my best to rip it / abrade it on the rough grit-stone with no noticeable effect. I have no reason to suspect it wouldn't last for a good length of time and compete well with other similar and even more expensive jackets.
All in all I've given it 4 out of 5 because of the slightly baggy body, otherwise it's hard to fault, especially as it gives you that nice warm feeling that you're doing a little bit of good for the world by getting involved in an ethical company like Sherpa.
